What are you talking about? The Wiikey doesn't require soldering to any pins. It can be sodlered right onto the contact points. No soldering to broken legs is needed!!!!!!

if he has a d2b there is a good chance pads will be missing ,most are on d2b wiis , so he will have to get his dremmel out.
there is a thread here , i have fitted plenty of wiikeys in d2bs with the missing pads, so the dremmell is needed
