Hacking Where have i gone wrong??

Hi everyone,
I posted this in the gx loader forum but didn't get any answers, i wonder if anyone here can help?

'I have partitioned the hard drive wbfs. When i load gx through the homebrew channel it says 'no wbfs partition found, you need to select or format a partition'.
I press select and it gives me the options of either partition 1 which is the main bit on my hard drive then partition 2 which is the space i allocated through the computer. When i press the second option the screen goes black and it says 'exception occured, reloading in 5 seconds', then goes back to the homebrew channel.
Have i missed something through partitioning in wbfs???

I have now formatted the partition drive through the computer and have put a game on there but when i try to add a game through gx it says 'insert disk'. How do i go about making it load from the hard drive?
I can't seem to find anything in the settings menu to change.'

Having read a bit more info i realise i ain't installed cios 249/250 or hermes. Is that why the loader gx is not picking up the hard drive and asking me to insert a disk?
I have now placed IOS > IOS 38 > v3867 &WAD on the sd card as boot.dol but don't know how to insall it from priloader or the wad channel.

You can't play games from dvd or hdd without one or both of wanins and hermes' cios.
That should be where your problem is.

So check out one or several of the complete guides and follow the instructions there and get it installed.
And read the guide(s) properly

Should the cios installer have its own menu in the homebrew channel, as i only get wad manager, preloader, dop mod ios and loader gx in mine.

have you renamed to .dol file to boot.dol? If not, HBC won't recognise it!

HBC only finds apps that are like this: /apps/"app name"/boot.dol

Cheers Stig and Baz, yea i didn't name the thing correctly.
Im onto the hermes bit now. When you copy the files do i put the new folders in the cios222_rev4_installer folder as it does not make it clear in the guide.

1. Download the cIOS222/223 installer and extract it to the apps folder on the SD card/USB device

2. Start the NUS downloader. Be sure that Pack -> wad is NOT selected.
* NUS (IOS > IOS 37 > v3612)
* NUS (IOS > IOS 38 > v3610)
* NUS (IOS > IOS 60 > v6174) -> Download this version and NO other. This is the ONLY non-stub IOS60!

3. Time to copy the files. You need to make the folders yourself.
* Copy the contents of the new folder 0000000100000025 to SD:/00000001/00000025/V3612/ (or USB:/00000001/00000025/V3612/)
* Copy the contents of the new folder 0000000100000026 to SD:/00000001/00000026/V3610/ (or USB:/00000001/00000026/V3610/)
* Copy the contents of the new folder 000000010000003C to SD:/00000001/0000003C/V6174/ (or USB:/00000001/0000003C/V6174/)

Does this mean make a new folder on the root of the sd card? whats the usb option for?

there are ways to install cios249. you could get the wad for cios38revXX and install it using wad manager. or you could do what the guys have suggested to use an online install using cIOS38revXX installer. rename the cIOS38revXX.dol to boot.dol and place it in the directory sd:\\apps\cios38revXX\boot.dol for HBC to recognize it.

when you download files using NUSD, it will create a folder for specific downloads you make. what that guide is saying is that you must copy the content from the folder made by NUSD to the corresponding sd path also stated in that guide. the usb option is in case you use usb hdd for the installation.

Thanks Razorback, i have sussed it now but when i try to install all three methods:

Run the cIOS222/223 Installer with the HBC. Use IOS249 if it asks so.
*Select cIOS222. In the new menu, choose 38 merged 37. Let it install, it will exit when done.

[Optional] Run the cIOS222/223 Installer and again use IOS249.
* This time select cIOS223. In the menu, choose 38. Let it install and exit.

[Optional] Run the installer again. Use IOS249.
* Now choose IOS202. Now choose 38 merged 60. Let it install and exit.

... It comes up with the message 'downloading iso38 metadata: .. from internet: initializing network'. Then nothing happens.

I can't exit this screen either other than turning the power off at the plug. The wii remote also keeps blue lights on when i do this??

just download xzxero's package from his simplistic mod thread (stickied), then u can install the cIOSs using wad manager

I have done everything in the simplistic mod guide including this:

I recommend the following for USB loading:
cIOS202[38+60]-v4.wad
cIOS222[38+37]-v4.wad
cIOS223[38]-v4.wad
cIOS249-v15.wad or cIOS249-v16.wad
cIOS250-v15.wad or cIOS250-v16.wad
Install IOS70-64-v6687[TB+ES_diV+NAND].wad

So does that mean i dodn't have to install waninkokos cios 249/250 and hermes???
I have been having trouble getting loader gx to locate the partition i have made on my hard drive as it keeps saying 'insert disc' when i try to add a game.
Someone said it might be because i have not downloaded cios and hermes.

Im lost now lol
