Booze.... what’s your go-to drink(s) when you wanna unwind a bit... or a bunch.

Mines red wine and scotch, preferably single malt.

Maple flavored whiskey, Cream Liqueor, and AW root beer for a fun time. A shot of Jim or Jameson to cool down.
Interesting. All mixed together?
Jameson is good on the rocks.

Water:P

I've quit drinking, it's just no fun, most taste terrible and I can't even get drunk so I can't enjoy it... If I do drink something, I'll go with wine, raki (a local alcoholic beverage) or sake (cold, hate warm one).
Agreed... warm sake is rough unless I’m already buzzed.

The first 3 combined. Jameson or Jack separately.

Bourbon or scotch mostly. I still like beer with food, but I rarely just drink beer.

I'm drinking some Balvenie Doublewood 12yr right now in fact. Cheers.

Nice! One day I’ll get a bottle of Johnny Walker King George V..... one day lol

Oh wow. That's way out of my range. If I'm not wrong that runs about 8-10x more than my $60 bottle of Balvenie. (or was it $80? Can't remember.) My usual stuff is Dickel, Knob Creek, Bulleit Rye ... not cheap, not expensive either. But I keep a couple bottles of nicer stuff around for occasional whims. The other 'nice' bottle I have right now is some Japanese whisky called Hibiki 12yr. Bought that and a bottle of Yamazaki 12yr in Kyoto in 2015. The Yamazaki is gone, but it was very very good.

Next time I buy something for the 'nice' shelf, I'm thinking Lagavulin.

If you want to try a good Scotch that's not too expensive, look for Dalwhinnie 15yr. So far that's my single malt bang for the buck winner.

I’m just your typical ‘Murican lol. Best I’ve had so far is Glenfidditch and Glenlivet. I did know a bootlegger awhile back that took “returns” for scratched labels and whatnot for a distributor he worked for. Got me bottles of Moët & Chandon for 15-20$ and bottles of Dom Perignon for 100$, and occasionally expensive liquors. Patron, Gentleman Jack etc. Miss those days. I’ll have to try that Yamazaki though, sounds interesting!

Tea tastes terrible, since the most common kinds are made from weed flowers, but not all leaf water drinks are bad. Just try mint with just a tiny bit of honey and you will see what I mean.

Bourbon and Scotch are my go-to liquors. Single-malt is definitely the way to go for Scotch, but Monkey Shoulder is actually a really good blended whiskey. It's not cut with any grain-neutral liquors, just three Speyside Scotches: Glenfiddich, Balvenie, and Kininvie.

I do love sitting out on my balcony with a bottle of whiskey, a bucket of ice, an Old Fashioned glass, and a book.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb

    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
