Hello!

Years ago I bought a couple of R4 flashcarts:
  1. The "R4 Upgrade Games Engine Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) WWW.R4I-SDHC.COM"
  2. The "R4i v1.4 Revolution for DS (NDSi XL/NDSi/NDSL/NDS) WWW.R4I-GOLD.COM"
I also own:
  1. A 3DS with Software v10.7.0-32E
  2. A DSi XL with Software 1.4.2E
Using any of these combinations, would it be possible to load a Kernel onto one of these flashcarts and get things up and running?

I also just bought a "R4i RTS 3DS (3DS LL/N3DS/NDSi XL/NDSi/NDSL/NDS WWW.R4I-SDHC.COM" seeing as nothing appears to work so far. I'm almost certain that'll work with both of my systems because the website I ordered it from states that it works on 3DS v11.0.0 and the DSi v1.45. Just wanted to mention this in case I got something wrong. I'm guessing the latest R4i-SDHC 3DS v1.83b Kernel would work with that, right?

Thanks!

You can downgrade the 3ds to 9.2 to make use of a custom firmware for playing 3ds games as well as "reviving" the old flashcarts that don't work anymore, even on your DSi!

Just gotta make sure that you follow a guide on how to do that. Read thoroughly please.

NOTE: The a9lh is completely OPTIONAL, and there is no need to downgrade to 2.1 to get the OTP at all. you can also set up a menuhax method that works wonderfully with Luma3ds. Once you're in 9.2 you can follow this other guide.

Geez, that looks super complicated. I'm not sure if I'll go ahead with it yet, as I'm actually waiting for my 3DS cart to be delivered (although they said it'd take 1-5 days to process, and it's already been 4 :/) So I guess I'll just have to be patient.

You don't have to do it right away.
But be warned, if you update to the latest firmware, it locks out that option entirely unless you want to solder some wires into your 3ds.
