What's the difference between digital game and virtual game card?

Hello,
Someone can explain to me what's the difference between a digital game downloaded from eshop and virtual game card?

A digital game can be played on 2 consoles, on the main and secondary console if its connected to internet like a virtual game card

A digital game from the eShop can only be played on 1 console.
It is linked to your Switch account.
Only if you transfer your account to another Switch, you will be able to play it on that other Switch.

With a virtual game card, you can eject it like a normal game cart and insert it on another Switch.
Any Switch that is part of your Nintendo Account family group, can borrow that virtual game card to play it.
You can't play with multiple devices at the same time, nor can you lend out a single virtual game card to devices not in your family group.

I presume these virtual game cards will need an active internet connection, opposed to normal game carts or eshop titles which can also be played offline in most cases.

'Real' game carts don't have any of these limitations and can be shared with anyone, whether they are in your family group or not.
Nintendo does not check whether the game was installed on another Switch.
And you get updates for the game whenever you insert the cart on another Switch.

So personally I don't see any advantage in buying eShop or virtual game cards.
