Hacking What will kill homebrew?

Season Greetings,

My wii is running 3.2E with homebrew channel and wii gator 3 g.
Other than doing an update (?), what would possibly brick/semi-brick my wii?
i.e will logging onto Shop channel or doing anything Mii channel activities have the potential to brick it.

Is there also any reason to try to do an udpate from 3.2? Will updating it do any damage?

My apologies for not finding any previous post in this forum and yes i know google is my friend.

Hi wiistall l'll anwser the best l can - if l'm wrong on anything l'm sure someone will correct me.

That's the best place to be (3.2) stay there!

Installing malformed WADS from untrusted sources may brick your wii. Just make sure you're 99% positive that any WADs that you're installing on your WII are okay. Accessing wiishop, mii channel, message board, playing mario kart online are all fine and will not cause any problems.

No do not update, you may render your homebrew inoperable, and the twighlight hack will be deleted from the system with every reboot.

Stay on 3.2 and never accept an update.
Install Starfall available here and enable (at least) the following hacks:

* Start rescue-menu when Y is held on 1st GC controller
* Remove rescue-menu diagnostic disc check
* Skip disc update check

The first 2 will help you recover should you become "banner bricked" from a malformed WAD as long as your system has the Twighlight Hack installed (which it will if you stay on 3.2).

The third hack will prevent your wii from applying system updates it finds on Wii game discs.
