Yes, I'm sure. They are compatible with each other, but you must have the DS version to play the Wii version, otherwise it's just a waste of money.

Also, about Wiiware, neither of us are wrong. Apparently it is the download service in which you download games and apps, however those games and apps are also refered to as Wiiware.

Nitpick, but based on the rest of the content, I'm guessing it's actually the speaker channel from Jam with the Band (the English version), rather than Band Bros.
