FS patching is typically patching 3 things. CMAC, which allows you to copy save data from system to system on 1.0, sigcheck which lets you install titles with an invalid signature, and nogc which disables the gamecard slot. ES patching is eticket service, which allows you to run your "legallly obtained" back ups
