Hacking What is a USB Gecko?

I've never known what a USB Gecko is? Also, what's an SD Gecko? I heard that somewhere aswell.

USB Gecko Special Edition is a custom made device which gives programmers the ability to connect their Nintendo Wii or Gamecube to a Windows PC, Apple Mac or Linux computer. The device can be used for remote debugging of code, uploading and downloading of data and with an easy to use software development kit and API.

Basically a gamecube memory card with a sd slot.
