Hacking What IS a Cobra ODE?

I know - stupid question. But I just dont get it.

The Cobra ODE is an optical drive emulator - but what is it actually used for?

the newer ps3s are not 'hacked', so instead of playing games via software hacks, we actually connect a device to the insides of the ps3 to 'trick' it into thinking there is actually a game physically in the drive.
a bit like sky3ds, and gw.
gw is 'better', but on the latest fw, it is simply not possible to use gw. but sky, it is possible, because it works in a different way

more versions? you mean more ODEs? (optical disk emuulators?) sure, wii has one or two, xbox360, i think one was made for dreamcast (maybe not released?), sky3ds, and hmm, those are just the ones i can think of

I meant it more like for the PS3. I did not know they made even more for other consoles.

ok, well cobra ode is the best, although at the moment the latest fws for a few months, you need swap disks to you need to put a real disk in the ps3 to help trick it.
there are one or two others, e3 ode i think, but cobra is the best.
