Hi. First of all please, i'm not an active user, I just pass to lurk or asking questions in general but I think there is some drama over the installers available and i'm mostly ignorant about this and I don't care. I don't know if it's an hot topic or not but I'm here for advices so don't start to fight for stuff I don't care and are not important for the thread.

I'm gonna hack my switch when I will receive my jig and I need an installer
  • Who support nsz/nsp of pc to switch via usb (i'm not gonna connect my emunand to internet at all).
  • Open source
  • Compatible with everything (even if I will use atmosphere)
  • Protect against brickers

I have asked a lot of people and everyone is suggesting me tinfoil/awooo/goldleaf but everytime we told me "Oh this one have some compatibility problem, this one is closed source, one don't protect well agains't brickers".So heh what i'm supposed to use ? Like I said I don't care about the dramas I want something who work great with the prerequisites I have asked.

If it's not possible to have everything in order of priority : Open source is the most important to me, I'm not a programmer but If it's open source people can check if nothing bad is in there. Compatible with nsz/nsp of pc to switch via usb. After there is the anti brickers and compatible with everything (I guess most of the stuffs are compatible with atmosphere anyway)

I could have sworn XCIs were more vulnerable to that than NSPs? If I remember correctly, NSPs have their information stripped before being put online but XCIs don't because they're direct rips from a game card.

And for an installer, I personally think Awoo Installer is the best one. But that's just personal preference. I use ns-usbloader to install the NSPs over USB to it. Both are open source and Awoo has brick protection in the sense that it warns you if an NSP has been modified before installing it. That doesn't mean it is a bad NSP, but it can help stop potential bricks if you don't trust the source and that pops up.

Awoo not work on sxos and does not support block-compresed nsz/xcz
As far as I know there are no open source installers, that support block-compresed nsz/xcz

Also awoo does not cleanup old updates on installing new ones.

You misunderstood, he said Awoo does not support block compressed NSZ/XCZ which is true. Most NSZ you encounter are not block compressed and as such, will work w ith Awoo.

I personally recommend Goldleaf OP.
