So, when I was in grade 8, me and my buddy Patrick were talking in Tagalog in an English class. The teacher warned not to speak in other language because it disrespects other people who couldn't understand the language... Umm, anyways, we continued to speak and we got caught again.. The teacher was like, "What if other people speak in a foreign language you don't know then? We were like.. "Umm.." Then she asked a question in French. Of course, we didn't understand a thing. Then, she was like.. "See? That's the same feeling others feel."

Now, what if I had taken French course and was able to respond to her question? She admits she can't really speak French due to her Scandanavian background so that leads me that her question was simple. Me and my classmate took French next semester which was a bit too late for that situation.. But, there's always "what if."

Just forget about the past, you can't change it.. There's always going to be "what if" moments but they did not happen so it's just a waste of time to think about them. Just live in the moment or think about the future..

That was a pretty pompous thing for her to say.

You should have called her disrespectful for saying you can't speak in your native tongue.

Wow, thats pretty screwed up..

I'd hate for her to go to a foreign country.

Well...it was a personal conversation. What the hell does she care. It's not like she should know what you're talking about.

BTW, Tagalog FTW. Didn't know there were unknown Filipinos around here ^^.

I think she was right. At least they shouldn't have talked in the classroom. It shouldn't be that important. Or they could just leave the classroom and talk outside. If you're living in a English-speaking country, you gotta speak English...

That's true, but language barriers are a pain, especially in Canada. There must be like, a hundred languages spoken just at my school. Nobody can understand everybody else, and the discrimination can be a problem, like what happened with you.
