It's not even mentioned anymore, and all the websites hosting it give an error when trying to access them.

That exploit should've been exploited to it's fullest ability. Why it wasn't is beyond me.

Basically, the bug that was being used was patched in 5.1.1 and nobody's exploited another bug yet (though we may soon). As for finding the exploit, it's all on bitbucket. https://bitbucket.org/Marionumber1/wiiu-userspace

There's no "still", due to MN1 now being on the latest version (don't ask why, it was an accident), we now have two priorities, find a webkit bug on the latest version (which research has been going on very lightly for a few weeks), and finish the kernel exploit on older versions. As has been said before, there's been a lack of time to dedicate to making progress.
