I have a wii key and it works good, however; why would you want one now that software hacks are so well established? Not to long ago it was something you needed if you wanted to play backups but then came the twlight hack and that all changed. Ah those were the days!

Yeah, I would advise against getting a mod chip at this point. For around the same price of a chip, you could get a decent sized usb hard drive that would load all the games on it at a much better speed that you can obtain with any modchip.

could you give me a link with reliable and simple info on how to get my wii running homebrew and backup discs?
thanks for all the replies

go to bootmii.org and download the HackMii Installer v0.2

it will install:

BootMii public beta 2
The Homebrew Channel 1.0.3
DVDx

u will need to use the bannerbomb exploit to install the hackmii installer. read the FAQ over at bootmii.org and figure it out for yourself. dont install anything until you are sure you know what you are doing.

after those are installed you will need to open the homebrew channel and install waninkoko's cios38 rev13b to allow usb hard drive support. after thats installed on your wii you will be able to install your wii discs onto the hard drive with a usb loader for wii games. i use the Configurable USB Loader because it has the best compatibility for me

By the way to all you people who think drive chips can ruin the Wii lens, that doesn't actually happen, it's when people attempt to run backups with a DVD+R it's when the lens can get ruined.

DVD+Rs cause lens failure? Jeez talk about urban myths.
