What can you do with Maxlander so far?

My Maxlander just came in the mail, and I really just bought it to experiment with it a bit. I don't really play Skylanders, and I don't have a huge interest in the figures, but I thought I might as well get a Maxlander just to see what it was capable of. However, I can't really find any Maxlander community anywhere, so I thought I'd make a post here.

I know that, out of the box, Maxlander is able to scan in Skylanders, back them up, then restore them on little NFC chips (up to 99 times per chip, apparently). That's cool, and all, but I think support for additional NFC toys (Amiibo, Disney Infinity, that new LEGO one...) would be even better.

Does anyone know if anyone has figured out a way to back those up? Or if it's even being worked on by anyone? Seems like a missed opportunity if not.

from the official support site, it says the maxlander currently only support skylanders,
maybe they will use software update to support Amiibo , Disney Infinity, LEGO NFC games.

And i noticed that Skylanders characters is ok to download now,
300+ characters and magic item, include rare and limited character data.
