OP
I want to start learning French. I currently have 0 knowledge of the language. I'm willing to put in half an hour a day and am willing to use paid apps, provided they are not unreasonably expensive. This is a serious thread.

In Mexico Duolingo it's a very popular app to learn a new language, it has multiple games and rewards to make it the less tedious way and actually have some fun while you are learning. I've never tried but I've been told that is a good app

Do you want an app? I seldom find them that useful for anything other than keeping vocab and maybe basic grammar intact. Maybe you will learn a tiny bit more vocab depending upon your original source of vocab.

As far as actually learning from scratch or even converting to conversational then they did not work when they were called books on tape and don't work now.
