I have a hacked PSP, the problem is that sound starts working automatically and then goes away. When it goes away the speakers as well as headphones don't work. All other functionality of the unit is fine. I took it apart thinking that may be there's a loose connection or something but everything seemed fine. Wondering if anybody else had a similar issue. Thanks.

If the headphone jack does not work it could be that it keeps thinking that there is headphones connected and mutes the speakers. Try cleaning or removing the headphone jack entirely.

Thanks for the reply. In my opinion if that were the case it would at least output in headphones, but once the sound is gone, there's no sound not even in headphones. And one more thing, the speakers sometimes start working automatically, without me tinkering around with the headphone jack.

Ya it's probably a very small solder joint on the board that expands when the device turns on, gets hot then works.

You could try "baking" the PSP mobo like what PC guys do to their motherboards when they have issues.

Alright, I will give this a go, thanks.

Whoa, be careful. More often then not you'll end up killing whatever it is you are trying to fix. Baking is a last resort fix.
haha yes I can tell, I will try to find the sound IC and reflow that probably, I won't be baking the board, I know I'll kill it if I bake it
