If you're worried about shit stains in your pants, why aren't you worried about shit stains in your undies?

They aren't really going to keep you warm, it's a thin layer of fabric.

I know women can get moist from time to time, but most guys I know aren't dripping with anything.

Comfort?

Meh. Denim against my bare legs isn't much more irritating than it its around the genital region.

So um, I think I'm going to stop wearing underwear soon.

It does nothing for me (that I know of).

I'm going commando and since I did that many years ago I have never looked back.

Easy access for whatever penis/bottom needs to do, its less sweaty and its more comfy. Only problem is that when you split your trousers/jeans instead of seeing some underpants, people see your bits. Also its cold down there at winter.

As for drippage, well I drip when I'm, hard don't you?

I don't enjoy my balls sticking to my leg on a hot summer day. It already happens enough with underwear on, and without it I might as well type my ballsack to my leg.

Well, I have to change for gym class 4/7 days of the week (5 day school week and I have a lab on Monday instead of my gym class) so I wear underwear. It's also my comfortable, honestly. Softer fabric than denim, and all I own is jeans (outside of a pair of gym pants and a pair of dress pants).

(Generally speaking) underwear are cheaper than pants. Think of it as paying a little extra for the insurance of your pants.

1. Skin protection, warmth, possibly aesthetics. Underwear doesn't really do any of that.
2 & 3. Hygiene?

A variety of reasons, I suppose, as dice mentioned it's sort of a visual safety net. If your pants fall off, you're still covered. Not everyone being comfortable with public nudity. My boxers actually do keep me warm, actually. I've compared and contrasted and there's a big difference (to me). And I'm a jeans man, and let me tell you, your junk scraping against a metallic zipper? Not fun. Plus, there's a better chance you'll get it caught when zipping up.

Really, the list goes on and on.
