I'm surprised nobody has replied to this yet. It sounds like you've updated the Wii after it was modded.

Use modmii to reinstall the needed cIOSs.

You should be able to find relevant help on that thread too.

Once you have at least 249 installed you should be able to use your USB drive.

What exactly did you do with Modmii & can you post a syscheck for us to see if the cios is really stub . Also your hdd being formatted to ntfs should be unrelated to this error .

Strange that the only one that's a stub is 249. I'd try installing it again. I'm no expert, but it looks like you did everything else right.

An easy workaround until you fix it is to use the CFG dol that uses 222 by default.

Just rename it to "boot.dol" and replace the existing one the Apps/USBLoader folder on your SD card or wherever you have it.

Well according to the compatibility list here simpletech 750gb should workwith the wii . Try getting 249 again from modmii & installing . To do so open modmii , go to page 4 , type 249d2x56 & press enter the type d & press enter . Once you get it downloaded install it using mmm & use the original .dol again .

According to XFlak here you can use the IOS249 WAD to uninstall the stub, then try to install again. It seem that stub is short for stubborn in this case. :)
