Hacking WAD Packer v0.0001 released!!!

update mario64 ntsc has been reported working now by a few users,

my question is how long will it be till we can inject our own roms that arnt avalibe for download from the vc channel, i want a copy of chrono trigger and earth bound on my vc, oh and some bajo kazooie action while were at it.. i miss rare.

I tried goldeneye, didn't boot at all with the vc emu I tried it in

Woohoo! Success! Got California games PAL packed, installed and running.

After all the messing about it's actually quite simple when you understand it. Somewhat tedious though as the .app files from the /TITLE/00001001/xxxxxxx folder needed hashing and renaming too.

Hey guys what am I doing wrong here? If I look in the title.tmd I get the sha1sum of the 3 missing .app files , rename them and place them into the folder, run the application and create the .wad. The ticket installs fine but I get error -1022 , failed to app content #0

Now looking trough this the file with sha1 sum of f5dd17b3200dd4d6be2b25b577c99e5f941b7324 should be renamed to 00000002.APP correct?
32b339cbbb507d502779259a7866995d030b1d88 should be 00000003.APP And 3644384b0cfc920ef620120e8721bf53c85bda27 should be 00000004.APP , right?

I'm afraid that's not going to happen any time soon (if ever). I've been told that the N64 VC games released by Nintendo, has a very specific emulator built into it, meaning that every game has its own type of emulator (if you can even call it that), to enhance various elements. I also heard this is the reason the Wii is able to play N64 games without lag and other issues with hardware limitations.

To sum it up; we'd have to build a specific "emulator" for each N64 game we would like to play that hasn't been released as a VC game yet. Now seeing as no-one really knows anything about the emulators Nintendo uses I'd say thats impossible.


I could be wrong in all of this though.

the file names you posted are correct. Are you using Packer v7? Also you could check the hashes of the files you took from /Title/00010001/* and see if they need renaming too in accordance with the TITLE.TMD, my files from California games needed to be.

I took the files with those sha1sume and renamed them to the index of the missing file. So I took the files from /SHARED1/ with the sum of f5dd17b3200dd4d6be2b25b577c99e5f941b7324 and renamed it to 00000002.APP according to the index from title.tmd. I did the same with the other two files.

I packed SM64 with the files from my FS Dump using v7.

After I deleted my SM64 Channel, the one I downloaded from nintendo, I installed the WAD, and success.

The game starts right up and plays the way it did before.


Oddly enough, after deleting the channel using the Wii Menu, I can't copy back my original that I copied to an SD first before doing anything.

Well, I just installed SM64 NTSC-U on my NTSC-J console. Channel installs.............game can't be played. Once again us poor NTSC-J owners are shafted! Someone release some NTSC-J .wads!
