Stretching =/= Upscaling.

Anyway, the Wii Mode and all VC games look pretty sharp to me, so it is clearly doing something other than just stretching. Still says 1080p on my old LG monitor which probably doesn't have any internal upscaler.

I have an legit Lenkeng adapter and it is just as blurry as the original Wii2HDMI. Whatever the Wii U has inside, it is doing a way better work than those HDMI adapters on the market.
Long ago i tested my Wii on a LG TV (component, 2012) and it didn't look as good as the Wii U....
It's more or less 100% confirmed that wii u vWii picture quality is not the same as a normal wii console using a component or hdmi adapter.

Forget about 480p 720p 1080p etc.

Just get the two consoles next to each other on the same tvs and compare the picture. even i can notice the difference and im not much of a videophile or anything like that.

There is something the wii u upscaling does which makes it look worse than when the tv does the upscaling.... i remeber in some of the older threads discussing this people with more knowledge explained it.

That is true, The Last Story for example in vWii on every region and on legit disc or backup it always has a green line down the screen and it never goes away, thats one big difference or something that I didn't ever saw on the normal Wii console, and you can't make that disappear with any cheat at the moment.

How many times do a person have to answer for you guys to understand?
Upscaling is just taking a 480P resolution image and stretching. This is what the WiiU already does.

What you are actually asking for is a GX>GX2 graphics wrapper for vWii which will output in higher resolution. It would be tricky and I have no idea if someone has the time/knowhow to pull it off.
I'll say this again, it'll require rewriting GX (the graphics module).

I wonder how difficult a task it would be to just make the vWii output regular 480p through the HDMI and then let the TV do the upscaling to 720p? Or rather prevent the wii U from working any upscaling algorithm and just send the video data through hdmi.

As I beleive this is what a normal wii does when using hdmi adapter, which allows the TV to do in most cases a much better case of upscaling the picture.

Obviously dowm the line, it would be really nice to be able to use dolphin high-res texture files especially for games like xenoblade, skyword sword and even NSMB. That way upscaling the picture and using high res textures would make a real differance.

So umm does eshop Wii games not stay in wii u mode when playing them? Or something? i haven't bought one yet but i wanted xenoblade chronicles to use game pad on.

If this is true, why do some eshop wii games work with game pad but vwii itself does not?
Xenoblade and other Wii VC games seem to have a custom FW img for each of them that reboots the system with certain features enabled/disabled. Xenoblade is the only Wii VC game i know that lets you use the Gamepad controls, the rest asks for :gun::shit:Wiimotes:shit:.

That's because vwii outputs hdmi (digital) video and wii composite (analogic) which causes the quality loss. If you use a wii2hdmi thing it will still lose quality in the connectors.

I don't know if the console is underclocked in vWii, but if it is, would it be possible to clock it back to Wii U speeds?

(I'm assuming it's underclocked, because I saw an infinite Coins glitch in NSMBWii, and vWii started to slow down at the same time as a Wii.)

As @AboodXD has already mentioned this will require GX rewrites but one can hope that once we have a full fledged CFW some enterprising dev codes a wrapper akin to Nintendont that allows the Wii sandbox to be controlled via the extra grunt of the WiiU and those can throw some magical sprinkles on the graphics with a bit of processing as some of those GC games are starting to look a tad rough.

Obviously this won't be on Dolphin level due to the lack of processing power but it would be interesting to see what it could do.
