Hi I’m hoping someone can assist me. I have my vita first gen model with 3.60 HENkaku Enso on it. I’ve been busy with work so I haven’t used it in over a week to two weeks maybe. Did a hard power down when I last turned it off. I store it in ps vita vault case. I went to turn it on this morning and nothing. No big deal I plugged in and let charge until after the orange light stopped blinking and went to solid. Then I turned it on to use it for alittle which it did end up turning on. I went into some app like pkgj or vitashell I forget and I went to press the ps button so I could exit the app and it wouldn’t work so I pressed and held and nothing. Tried power button and nothing ether. So I was searching on phone on google for answers and after awhile I noticed now on vita the screen came up that pops up when press ps button. I hit the X to get out of menu then it had popped up again and again after I kept Xing out of it. So it’s like there was a delay because I had kept pressing it b4 when it wasn’t doing anything a bunch of times. I still couldn’t get power button to turn it off so I downloaded the power off app and powered it off but I tried pressing the power button to turn it back on and nothing. Opened up and unplugged battery and back in. Closed it up and pressed power button and it turned on first press but once on I’m back to ps button and power button doing nothing. I repeated unplugging battery and back in and same thing it turns on on first press of power button. My battery percent is at 83% now as I charged it for awhile.
I pulled vita apart and cleaned under the power button with alittle alcohol on qtip and that was under the sticker film because saw a video of when they get hot the glue melts and cause power button to think it’s pressed all the time. But after I put back together, nothing. Still only way can turn on is if disconnect battery then back in and powers right up but like I said no response from ether buttons. I’m extremely ocd and very careful with my game stuff so it hasn’t suffered any shock. If anyone has any advice or tricks to try or has had this issue I’d appreciate help.

Edit: I do have that app that installs vitashell over a System app and I did install it over an app but that was back awhile ago and didn’t have any issues as it worked fine. But maybe with battery completely depleting that had impact on it. Idk. I had to enter date and time in after I finally had a charge then after each time I unplugged battery and back in
Also when I do have it on it doesn’t seem to go into sleep mode when the time limit that is set is reached

Doesn’t seem like it’s a hardware problem as power button works after I do battery unplug and plug back in, atleast that one time until I repeat that. And ps button did work for alittle bit after I had charged battery up the first time, it just seemed delayed by minutes b4 menu came up. But afterwards the ps button did nothing.
Not sure if I should do a factory restore or what and how would I go about that with HENkaku enso installed. And can I leave my PS Vita memory card out so I don’t lose my games and all the stuff I had on it
And battery does hold a charge as it did charge up to 83% b4 I had unplugged it to try and unplug and plug battery in

Final edit
Joystick leaked lube. Caused a short I think that messed ps button light up. But also left film on connectors

Ended up getting a parts vita and switched the ps button board. Was good for alittle bit but then again same issue. Finally I changed the ribbon that goes from ps button board to the middle mainboard and that fixed it. You have to make sure that ribbon is locked down straight. If contacts don’t line up perfect then will have loss of control of buttons like I had. Hope this may help someone with similar problem that is stuck.

yeah, you can use it again once you log into your psn account.

about your issue... i don't know. just going through what might help:

try booting into safe mode and restore it(will reformat the internal storage and deactivate enso, so back up stuff that you might need).

if that doesn't help, reinstall 3.60 and if that doesn't help either... i'm out of options.

I never activated. I bought it used from someone who had one game and barely played it and got it with low firmware on it. So I pretty much just have psx and psp games I moved over from my psp and then just games dled from pkgj. So not worried bout psn account stuff. I just don’t want to spend the time to get all that stuff again. Can I leave my memory card out , oh wait I kinda need that in if reinstalling. Now what’s best bet, just to goto HENkaku site and rerun that. Not sure how to go about installing 3.60 ontop of my 3.60 HENkaku enso

go into henkaku settings and unlink the memory card, before you restore the vita.(from safe mode)

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

that way you can use the memory card with any or without a psn account. i forgot that exists, should've told you earlier.

Oh ok I thought that was just something for sd2vita deal. Cause I have the Sony vita card. So if I do that then I could use it on my PSTV. Bought one but haven’t done nothing yet. It’s on 3.30 I believe

Oh and Thankyou for ur time. I know my post was quite the read

yeah you could, the unlink option works for all memory cards.

haha no prob, i hope restoring the vita helps.

Is restoring vita gonna wipe my memory card though?
Could I take out memory card when do that?
And also is it ok to do that with enso installed or should I remove or do something about that. Sorry bout all the questions. I had just gotten the vita in April and haven’t been able to spend much time learning about it

Nah it doesn't wipe it IIRC. You can take it out, too.
It just deactivates enso, you don't have to completely uninstall it if you plan on reinstalling it.

Don't worry about it. :)

So I restored it then went to web and HENkaku and then went into options and HENkaku settings and unlinked memory card again because on startup it said couldn’t use it. Then I hit reboot and it loaded up my memory card with all my stuff. Reinstalled enso. And I’m at where I was before, power button only works once after I unplug battery. And no response from ps button

Before I restored I had vitashell injected into email app. I had restored email app and ps button when held brought up the quick menu and it seemed to be working for that. But didn’t last long because it stopped. So it was coincidence. I did see a vid on YouTube of when vita gets warm there glue under power button sticker but I had done that and cleaned and that no work. But the guy said when vita is off if u pressed ps and R button it would go to safe mode menu because power button is being contacted cause of melted glue. Well when mine off I pressed ps button and R and that didn’t bring up menu.
And obviously buttons aren’t bad cause after I unplugged battery and plugged in I held power , ps button and R and it powered on to safe mode menu. I don’t get it, I didn’t install anything new last time I used vita. All that happened was battery completely drained and that’s it and after charged to get it to turn on these issues came to play. It sucks to have to keep opening up vita and unplugging battery. And battery is still almost full from charging it this morn.

Oh and just went into adrenaline to see about psp mode. Once in there the ps button doesn’t do anything nether.

Damn, okay, this is weird. At this point i kinda doubt reinstalling the firmware will do anything, but if you still want to give it a shot: https://github.com/SilicaAndPina/Firmware-Reinstall/releases

By the way, there is a keycombo for disconnecting the battery, hold ps+select+start+L+powerbutton for 15 seconds while your vita is off.

Funny I was just googling around and found that thread for button combo to disconnect battery. But only problem is only way I can turn vita off is to unplug battery and buttons work once while turning it on anyway. I downloaded the turn off vita app yesterday cause got sick of popping vita open to shut off. App shuts it off but then buttons don’t work to turn it back on unless do battery disconnect again

That’s a YouTube vid I found and seems like my deal except when it’s off R and ps button doesn’t bring safe menu up.
And the fact that buttons only work after unplug replug battery. My battery still holds charge and seems fine. My friend has a vita and he’s gonna let me take his battery out and try it in mine just for hahas. Cause wtf the only thing that happened was complete drain from non use.
I did have it in my backpack the day before, in it’s vault case and I did have it on floor by car vent. Was cold and rainy and I was wet so had stuck heat on. I thought maybe it got hot and thing in video happened. But it was in backpack and heavy duty vault case

And Thankyou, I really appreciate you still trying to find possible answers for me. I haven’t had vita for that long and I passed on it when came out cause was too busy with life so when I finally got one well found one with low enough firmware that wasn’t used much I got it. Very ocd with taking care of my video game units, it was tough buying a used one. Kid only had one game and think it sat most of its life judging by condition. And it worked great up until it ran out of power when sitting not in use. I had full shutdown when not in use. And sleep mode def doesn’t work nether

Now does that firmware reinstall install stock Sony 3.60? And I can just run it with 3.60 enso installed on mine still?

Last edited by Tri-Z,
Yep. You'd have to reinstall enso after that.

So I tried that firmware reinstall
Extracting files may take awhile then screen turns green and says system update then system software cannot be used with this system C3-12050-8

Tried it twice. Once with spoofing set to 3.60 and off
And once with spoofing on and set to 3.60

Do I need to turn plugins off or get rid of anything. I got pkgj and adrenaline
Oh wait maybe those aren’t plugins
I have nonpdrm.skprx in ux0:tai folder

set the spoofing to something lower than 3.60, you don't have to get rid of anything.

Damn I wish I tried that. I thought it said set to 3.60 was ok. Had to go to work. I’ll report when home later. Borrowed a friends vita and gonna swap battery for heck of it even though I don’t think would help. Sleep mode doesn’t kick in at all on my vita nether. Not from button press and not from the timer nether. And those few times when ps button worked after I took vitashell off email app it only brought up the quickmenu which is from 3 second touch it didn’t bring up the dif windows that look like tabs

So I spoofed 3.55 and the app ran and it did 3.60 install. Afterwards though still no change. So I redid HENkaku and enso for 3.60
Still buttons no work
But check this the battery disconnect button combo works. I did it with my system on and it killed power to it so my vita turned off which now means I don’t have to open vita up and unhook battery just so power button will work to turn it on, which was getting real annoying. So atleast I can somewhat play vita now. Wonder if that button combo works from within adrenaline.
And it just goes to show there’s nothing wrong with my buttons. They do function because that button combo shouldn’t have worked.
So here’s what I know quick press or long press of power button does not work unless after a battery unplug and plug in then it works the one time to turn it on.
Ps button press no work. I’ve held it for several seconds and nothing happened and when I went to pop vita open the quick menu had popped up. And it’s done that several times but not consistent and idk if is a coincidence that it popped up when I started to split the vita as before another time while in vitashell I think it was the quick menu popped up but was delayed. I had pressed button bunch of times and held with no response then several min later quick menu popped up and I X out of it and menu popped up again and I X out of it and it happened a few more times so it seems it was because of me pressing so many times several min earlier when it wasn’t responding and instinct was to keep pressing and trying.
After a battery unplug and plugin if I press power, ps, and R button the safe menu comes up
While System is on if I press and hold L, power, ps, start and select buttons after time goes by vita turns off and when I press power button after it comes on and have to enter date and time cause it disconnects battery which is why power button let me turn it back on with having to manually unplug and plug back in.
Sleep mode does not work. Not from power button press and not from the set time limit

Let vita drain. Started freaking out. Screen twitching and bringing up the menu when u press ps button. Then it just flickered the tab screen on side of screen. I pressed power button and it brought up menu like ps button is supposed to. And I repeated and it kept doing. Then power got so low it said a message. I pressed power button and it turned it off. Pressed again and it turned it on. Then pressed ps button and it did what it’s supposed to. Pressed power and turned it off. I plugged power cord in and let it charge alittle and turned it on and back to buttons not doing anything
So something with battery being completely drained messed up my vita for sure. It’s gotta be the reason

Tri-Z I hope you get this fixed at least it works, maybe a new firmware update when the newer henaku comes out would fix it.
sounds like maybe software problem,

codes can be messed up at times but still work

IDK about vita's I do own one and I am waiting for the new hack.

So I borrowed a friends to try his battery. Just took the whole back of his and put on mine. Same crap. No worky. So I put his back together and let mine sit for alittle b4 battery in. Was late to leave for work but I’ll try one more time. It now worked perfect. The ps button light no coming on though. So now all buttons functioning properly besides not seeing ps button light come on. Go to work and come home and turn on and my screen is wigging out again. Flickering and doing all sorts of weird stuff and buttons acting funny

Now I’m at the point where all other buttons are screwy. I think one button is always being triggered and it’s messing everything else up. I go in a menu and cursor goes down without me pressing anything at all. Played mortal kombat. I’m able to pause it and use buttons to do hit moves. I couldn’t move forward in game at all. Guy was always ducking
I think leaving battery unplugged for a long time worked to fix my first problem. All though I had tried it b4 and no do anything. Wasn’t til after I tried other battery then went back to mine but waited a bit before I plugged my battery in that my problem was fixed

But was working perfect and all I did was turn it full power down and put in case. And hours later started it to experience issues again.
So idk what to do now except take it apart and clean all wire and button contacts maybe the constant opening and closing it caused issues. The button combo to disconnect battery works fine
Ps, power, L , start and select. Then I can hit power button to turn vita back on. But after that I lose function of buttons. Volume buttons work fine

Did hardware test app and L trigger is not registering and my left joystick is stuck pressed downward
Other app shows ps button press all the time too
My vita is such as mess

Edit: after battery unplug and undoing button connections power button and ps button are functioning. In hardware test app the L shoulder button isn’t registering and the left joystick is registering as being pressed downward always
If anyone has any tips to get joystick to function back to center that would be awesome. I’m not sure what’s up with L button. It needs to be pressed for battery disconnect with button combo and everytime I press the combo and hold it works fine.
Such bs that all my problem came to life from battery completely draining and I plugged in to charge and as soon as stopped blinking orange and was solid orange I turned it on. I should have waited. I think starting it on low power did something to screw it up. To anyone who has read through my short story of my vita journey and offered help, Thankyou
And if anyone else has these issues, hang in there. Seems that leaving battery unplugged for a awhile helps. Then just make sure u have it plugged back in firmly.

Problem solved and I’m just posting for any future users that may have issues because I searched and searched and found nothing that helped.

I took vita apart, taking pics as I went so would know where all screws and pieces went back. I took the little circuit board off from left side and underneath it I found a puddle of liquid. The joystick sprung a leak. I’m guessing it’s some kind of lubrication to keep joystick rotating smoothly and for what ever reason it sprung a leak and the puddle of lube cause a short or something that affected my vita. After I cleaned it up and dried it, I put it back together and the power and ps button now function as they should. My ps button does not light up so I’m thinking maybe permanent damage to the led bulb or something, I really didn’t see a bulb in there so idk. And my joystick is garbage. In the hardware test app it registers as stuck in down position still so I will be replacing that.
Good luck to anyone who has similar issue as my buttons did work sometimes which was very confusing. If u read through my earlier post I explained it all.
