Homebrew Virtual Console Injection

There's a handful of GB and GBC games that I have to emulate due to not being available on modern hardware. I play them via the Wii, but I'd much rather play them on my 3DS ( since it portable like the original games :] ). However, I dont want to hack my 3DS since I still use the eshop and Pokemon Bank. I read that you can 'inject' games into Virtual Console games. Is it possible to hack it, inject the games, and unhackl it? Or do I need to keep the Homebrew installed for the injected games to work? And if they do work, will I still get banned?

Sorry if this is very similar to my last question!
