I know that there are a bunch of threads asking about this, but i couldnt get a good answer from them, or they are outdated. So...

I modded my wii a long time ago, around the softmii time. Now, i wanna basically virginize it, because that sucker is so filled up with mods it is unreliable and new games dont work. The firmware is 4.1U. Its got softmii, cIOSCORP, cIOS 249 rev 9 (lol, old) preloader, and HBC 1.0.3 (i think), an old version of bootmii, and all of these old IOS's that I installed prob to play wiiware or something. Ive got a theme called Darkmii, and a channel with wad manager 1.3. I didnt wanna update the HBC because i heard it makes it upside down when you have the trucha IOSs. I do not even know where to start with this, and any help would be appreciated. I want it to be like factory default, if possible. I have also read that formatting the wii is not good either.

yeah, i saw that sticky, but i really just wanna get it normal. if i really cant find anything, then i suppose ill have to try that out..

EDIT: i just found a program called NANDClean, any thoughts on that?

mabye uninstall the cioscorp, bootmii, priiloder, hbc and theme. Then update using offical nintendo update???

^This looks like my best shot

I doubt it, if I rember correctly the version is maxed out to stop it being over written

#1: You can never "Virginize" your wii... once you modify it, there will always be traces of the modding.

#2: "Virginizing" to rehack a wii is pointless and unnecessary. If you want to basically start hacking over first installed the latest Homebrew channel (hackmii installer .8) then update using the official Nintendo updates to 4.3 then follow any "how to hack your wii" guide from the part where homebrew channel is installed.

For the love of all things Wii related, make sure you update your homebrew channel before doing an official update or you'll have properly boned yourself.

Doing an official update will remove all of the cios, remove priiloader, etc while retaining bootmii and homebrew access.

My shop channel is asking for a update through the wii setting menu , should i ?
i have a 4.3 modded wii downgraded to 4.1 and updated homebrew channel .
i cant get onto wii shop channel to instal netflix. :(

You need to block updates with Priiloader. If it still asks for an update, download the Shop Channel wad from ModMii and install it with Multi-Mod Manager.

Edit: What's with you? This is not the right place to post a random question.

You haven't checked the link, have you? The way the complete softmod guide goes about it is to manually download and overwrite the IOS'es with downloaded IOS wads from NUSD (they're just not hacked). Modmii does roughly the same thing, except it's more bundled together (and thus makes it harder to accidentally skip a thing).

Anyway...to go about this, I'd do the following:

1. make a bootmii backup in case things go wrong (it'll only be failsafe if it's installed as boot2, but it's still worth doing)
2. get a syscheck to see what's on your wii exactly (no point in guessing)
3. use modmii to download the latest Hermes cIOS (222->224), IOS 236 and the recommended d2x cIOS'es (d2x is the continuation of Waninkoko's cIOS). Then install them with a wad manager. Personally, I'd install 236 first, and install the others by using 236, but that's up to you.
4. update priiloader to the latest version.
5. make another bootmii backup. Label it carefully to not confuse it with the other one
6. use modmii to download all the latest IOS (numbers below 200). Make extra sure it includes IOS56 and your system menu IOS (that'll be IOS60 on 4.1). You can add the 4.1U system menu as well, but that's optional. Install all the wads.
7. update the HBC to 1.0.8.
8. if you reinstalled the system menu, you should reinstall priiloader at this point
9. done. if things aren't wrong at this point, another bootmii backup should be handy

That's it. Of course it ISN'T virginized, but to the latest version. If you just want to clean up your wii, switching to uneek is better (no more messing with IOS or cIOS and as brick-safe as you can get). If you literally want it to be fresh, then giantpune's Ohneswanzenegger's program will help (it should even be untraceable by nintendo). But you'll have to figure out how to do it yourself, as there aren't that much guides on it. I can just say that it has a credible author. :)
