I think when it comes to expanded series like these, it should be viewed in the order that they were produced, not when it comes by chronological order in terms of the storyline (so, original SW before new trilogy, etc). This is because the people who make the games or movies might put throwbacks (throwforwards?) in said media, or viewing them in proper storyline order would defeat a good deal of the viewer enjoyment. I mean, in the case of the six SW films, you'd start with a story of a kid who is said to be the Republic's only hope, and his fall from grace, and then it cuts to another guy and you notice that he has the same last name as the first guy? Oh snap, relation!
I like the method of finding out who Luke's father is, then the other films we find out more about the guy behind the mask.
So, FF7, then...uh...Advent Children or Last Order before/after, then Dirge of Cerberus, then Crisis Core, then FF7 Remake. That's the right order, right?
I didn't mention Before Crisis since so few of us have any information about it, being a Japanese mobile-phone-only game. =\
