video editing :/

    so me and some guys are doing this health and safety video for college and im the one thats got to edit it.
    and iv reached a problem iv got two clips 1. of a yes and 2. of a no in my video i will be asking questions to other people in my class and i want it so if they say the right answer i can make 1 appear and if they say the wrong answer 2 appears,how can i do this :/

    oh and this is how i plan for it to work:
    1.play vid
    2.stop vid and ask question
    3.make 1 or 2 appear depending on the answer

    so how can i make 2 different clips appear when i want during a vid :?

    You need a video editing program like Windows Movie Maker.

    well if you use movie maker, its just a straight video. so what you can do is use powerpoint. import each video on to each slide then after the first video plays, you can pause it by inserting a slide after the video. then when you want to go to the next one, you just manually move the slides with the arrow keys. i can make it more detailed in you need.

    Although solved there is also another way. You don't mention if it's being burnt to a DVD or not but....

    Depending on your software you could create a DVD Menu with 3 items on the index
    1 Play main Video (when video stops it will go back to 'Index'
    2 'Yes' - Play the Yes video
    3 'No' - Play the 'No' video

    I'm not sure but I think some video software will even allow you to organise menus etc so that it'll play the main video then go to a menu - on this you could have just the 'Yes' & 'No'

    Windows Movie Maker is basic.

    What I would suggest is adding titles part way through the video with the answers, then just pause beforehand.

    Either way, Pinnacle and Adobe Premiere Pro are probably the best, although a little expensive. It's what we use in my TV Production class.
