definitely not... but 3.0 connectors should work fine with 2.0 cables at 2.0 speed.

USB 3.0 is backward compatible with 2.0. But you are not going to receive 3.0 benefit on the Wii.

the reason youre not going to get usb3.0 speed IIRC is that the new usb 3.0 uses 4 extra wires in the assembly, so usb 2.0 can still use it but not get extra speed wiuthout those foiur wires
