So I have downloaded VBA GX 2.3.6 and I'm still unsure as to why the borders I downloaded for SGB and GBC games aren't being shown. I've tried in earlier versions as well and have been unsuccessful. Does this only work on an uncompressed ROM or does it work on ZIP files as well? For reference, this is how I have my borders folder set up.

Did you include the path to the "borders" folder in the settings file? It could also be a problem with the PNGs format/resolution.

Sorry I waited THIS long to get back to you Dario. Here is a pastebin of my settings XML file. I upgraded my VBA GX from an older version, if that helps you any. The border folder is the same as it had been. The main data folder is SD:\vbagx which might have some problem with it, maybe. Also, I guess I'm not sure how it works, so when I don't have any borders in there it doesn't generate any either. :S
