Stop using Utorrent, not only this program consume a high amount of RAM, it also install on your PC a lot of adware, spyware and cryptocurrency miners.
They're faster, less susceptible to file corruption (or poisoning - when someone uploads a clean file and then replaces it with an infected one once the upload is trusted; can't do this with torrents because of hashing), aren't capped like most file lockers, typically safer as releases tend to come from vetted uploaders, aren't nearly as prone to DMCA takedowns, more convenient than downloading multi-part links, clients can download to remote locations, etc.I really don't understand why people use torrents unless they can't find the downloads elsewhere.
That's on you for not taking the proper privacy measures. At the very least use a block list if you're going to use public trackers, and use a VPN if you plan to seed back to them. Downloading from a file locker can also get you a cease and desist, especially if the files you download get DMCA'd, as copyright holders like to subpoena access records in these cases. This is harder to do with a torrent, and typically requires a copyright holder to engage in seeder poisoning. This is when they upload their own stuff just to catch pirates. They're terrible, and in my case I would get notices being threatened to be sued
To each their own I guess, but a bad carpenter blames his hammer for a poor job.I haven't used a torrent in probably 10 years yet I am able to get every game I want, regardless if it's for PC or console.

If it were useless, it wouldn't still be the predominant method of large file transfers. They're even used legitimately for the distribution of operating systems, indie films, and freeware, which is immensely beneficial for saving on bandwidth costs. Hell, even Trent Reznor runs his own torrent tracker because he encourages artists to use the protocol for distribution. As far as being at the mercy of seeders goes, I fail to see how this is any different from being at the mercy of a file locker. Lockers have transfer caps unless you pay for premium (or use some sketchy leecher site that makes you drudge through monetization links en infinitum), and DMCA takedowns as well as limitations by the locker itself consistently result in dead links. Quite honestly, the only time I have an issue with seeders is if I'm downloading some obscure film, which really isn't an issue since I can wait for something I really want. Games and software in general have never had a problem. This is usually because uploaders have dedicated servers known as seedboxes that can seed a torrent for forever. Since these boxes are dedicated for this, speeds are never hindered. The BT protocol is inherently faster than HTTP, too, so a file locker will never be faster. It's literally impossible because of the limitations of HTTP itself. It just sounds to me like you don't know the technology and how to use it properly, so you blame the technology itself. I also sense a bit of projection here considering file lockers were more popular in 2006 than torrents. I can't imagine going back to digging through forums and random Blogspot sites just to *maybe* find working links that'll maybe be done in 4+ hours depending. It's just masochistic to do it these days.Nah you can get faster speeds without hoping there's seeders (which you are completely dependent on, that's a fact) just using regular downloads. You're using a method that was popular in 2006 and is completely useless in 2021. Get with the times.
Its not always easy, especially with pc games. Console roms are pretty easy to find usually but getting a specific pc game with the latest update can be really hard without torrents. Theres a lot of lesser known steam games that are only cracked on ggn (and maybe usenet) and no where else. Also many console roms for specific regions/versions are torrent only.I really don't understand why people use torrents unless they can't find the downloads elsewhere. It's totally possible to find 99.99% of every game other than a rare game from 15-20 years ago on occasion without ever using torrents.
That seems like an opinion more than a statement of factThey're terrible
Use better sites or use a vpn/seedbox.and in my case I would get notices being threatened to be sued.
As i thought, youre using bad sources. The torrents i download can max out gigabit download easily.there's all these parts and I have to download them individually and it takes forever
Thats one way to say you only like super popular games. Even torrents dont have close to every game from the last 25 years, so ddl certainly doesnt.games nope you can find every game made in the last 25 years (probably more like every game ever made) easily with regular downloads
maybe learn what a torrent is, then youll have your answers.Cheers everyone
I’m new to the PC modding scene cuz I got one just 2 days ago and started modding all kinds of games , especially the Microsoft Flight Simulator . The first torrent ran great at 6 Mb/s , but the installer got stuck every time ...
I tried a FitGirl repack but it’s downloading at just 20-400 kB/s , the Seeds are at 0.220 ( I don’t know if it’s good ) .
I tried restarting my PC several times , I also restarted the router , nothing changes . This FitGirl torrent has 700 seeders and 400 leechers that’s what I find weird .
So why is it downloading as it would take a whole week ? ( I use uTorrent *snip* )
Thanks for reading and answering!!

No, youre wrong on this. You THINK that your sources have every game, but they dont. Theres more than just big AAA games and popular indies, and theres plenty of games that NO sources have, torrent or ddl. Do you know what games are in ggns library or in private usenet indexers? If you dont, then it seems foolish to make claims that would require that knowledge, dont you think?Blatantly false you just don't know where to look.
Which is why i use better sources that dont get dmcas instead, but vpn is still a good option, especially since it has plenty of other uses outside of for downloading gamesNot necessary at all so why should I? Especially since most are PAYING for vpns when they don't need to. Waste of money. I sure don't need to pay for vpns using regular downloads.
I never even said torrents were better, let alone that my opinion is fact. I simply said your statements were uneducated and misinformed.Do you think what you think about torrents being better is a fact?
You can automate torrent downloading similarly to usenet with scanning and downloading, I just set an autodl for kingdom hearts a few moments ago so that then its announced on the tracker itll be auto snatched. Im not sure about auto extracting, i never bothered to look into that. Usenet is fantastic for scene content, I always keep a few indexers as a backup.well, you do have rss feeds with usenet and some torrent sites. they will automatically download anything that fits a certain criteria, so you could have DUPLEX PS3 or something in the feed, and it will download everything that has those two words, and it will check it every 15 minutes or so. sometimes it downloads the wrong thing, but for the most part, you don't even have to be at your pc. and, with usenet, it will fix, and unzip the games automatically, and place them in a folder you designate once done. maybe some torrent apps can do this as well.
