I always feel like I should apologize incase this is an asinine question...

I have a friend who has a 3.1U system that has never been hacked. If he upgrades to 4.0U, and then installs Bootmi using bannerbomb can he use my NAND backup to make his system like mine?

This seems too easy.

Thanks for any help.

I think that's a reasonable question.

It seems like all the pieces are there for it to work, but like you something just seems too easy about it.

I wonder if the nand stores a hardware address or anything that ties the backup to YOUR console? I'm curious to see what others think.

To my knowledge, it won't work, because the NAND key can not be overwritten. And he must have your NAND key to decrypt your NAND-image. So if the key is wrong, all you get will be an absolutly broken Wii.

No you can't use nand backups on different Wii's. When you're making your nand backup you should see it says something about your Wii's keys. Those are different for every Wii and as such restoremii won't let you restore nand's using a different systems backups.

Edit: Well at least I THINK it shouldn't let you do it...I wouldn't try to test it regardless.

Like most things that sound too easy....they usually don't work

Thanks for your input.

you know im no coder but, it seems like buy now we should be able to create a uni-key for the wii.ive tried every thing to fix my wii and nothing works so that would be awsome
