Hacking using a usb controller

OK, so I know on wii U we have an app that lets us use a usb controller (i.e. gamecube adapter, ps4 controller, etc) as the main gamepad. Do we have an homebrew app or method for doing this on the wii? Thanks

Edit: Also I did try google first. FOund a thread from 6-7 years ago and wanted to see if progress has been made since then.
