I recently discovered u can dock your switch without actually putting Ur switch in the dock all u need is a USB C female to make extension cable ive seen it on YouTube bunch of people doing it..
But my question is is this safe??
I mean i know that USB C Extention cables require 3a/60watt adding extra current to the psu is that fine??

They do not require 3A or 60Watt, they SUPPORT working up to 3A/60Watt.
The information means the maximum current (A) and maximum power (W) that the cable is able to handle without damaging itself, you find such information stamped on lots of power cords used to connect TV and computers.
And about being safe, there are lots of bad USB-C cables and extensions.

I use this method, works fine function wise but the spring loaded base will eject the cable if it gets knocked or breathed on so it can be a pita. I’m still waiting for the SFANS adapter that’s been delayed to get around this issue and get rid of the awful dock all together.

What dock replacement would you recommend? I've seen a few floating around back in March but haven't been keeping up to date with them all.

I just got a switch, what's the benefits of using a different dock?
Ooh neat, add me :)

Well, personally I want a smaller dock for portable use, as well as a better ventilated dock for home use. The official dock has bad ventilation and the console gets very warm. It's better if you leave the side cover open though, as there's a small air vent underneath that's completely covered up if you close it. Why did they design it with a side cover that blocks the ventilation? Seems like terrible design to me.
I backed SFANS so will be looking forward to when that arrives. Still not decided on what I'm going to use at home. I could use the SFANS at home, but it's a bit more of a hassle to plug in and out and I want a separate dock I can just leave plugged in at home.
Might get one of those custom shells for the official dock which are a lot smaller.

I havent used my dock yet because i didnt wan to Scratch it today ill get my USBC question tho may sound stupid but how do i connect my dock?
Do i just plug everything in turn my switch on connect the dock to switch and itll pop up automaticly on tv thats it??
But with since in using the USB C itll be that instead of the dock but after plugging in it should just pop in the tv right?
