So my main Wii works perfectly fine - even slapped in a small SSD 40GB into a USB-powered case and it loads n everything (to be used on the old Wii on the kids TV).
So my old Wii, the one that I'm prepping for an Xmas present, worked fine before but it had a lot of old CIOSs on it so, I upgraded it with the same guide as my main Wii but, it will not load off of any USB drive, powered or not.
Any ideas?

What loader are you using ?
What guide did u use ?

Did you try both USB ports ?

I think on my Wii the only one that works is the bottom one.

I've tried my usual USBLGX, and then CFG... neither detect any HDD.
I used Mauifrog's guide - used it on 15 Wii, no probs.
I tried both USB ports, even changing the settings in USBLGX to detect port 0, 1, or both.

Both HDDs work on my main Wii which is why I'm so confused... ;_;

Do you know for sure the USB ports worked pre-modding ?
Do you have any other USB devices for the wii (ie. Skylanders portal) ... see if any other type of USB device works.

I've checked those links and they didn't help.

I've rehacked the Wii once with the same guide... Would a NAND restore from before the cIOS updates be stupid to attempt (so I've heard)? I just cannot find why the USB ports no longer work.

nope... but try another homebrew to check if the hdd's are really not detected, WiiXplorer would be a good one.
Also, it should be enough to install a cIOS over the current one, that should delete the old one.

I tried d2x v10, no go, d2x v7 (which is what was on there before), no go, and then I tried a USB initialization check and it said the ports / HDD can't be initialized.

I'm getting closer me thinks... I've plugged the data port to port 1 and the additional power usb to port 0; I have successfully loaded a game and played that way.
USBLGX still checks port 0 for the HDD which leads to a countdown or press B - if this is the best, are there any thoughts on getting USBLGX to skip the port 0 search and go directly to port 1? (I have set the HDD setting to port 1 btw.)

edit - the damnedest thing is that, there is almost no consistency... I power on the Wii, most times the Priiloader USBLGX autoloader will work, then I get the USB not found 20 second countdown, I hit B to skip it, it reloads into 249 and usually it will load the games off the HDD... sigh...

Solved: Had to edit the meta.xml to force it to load off of Port 1.
I don't know why this Wii was more picky but meh, works like a charm now - thanks to Cyan.
