ah yes, I thought you were still on WBFS.

I was until I reformatted the HDD. I decided to switch backup managers from WFBS Intelligent Gui to WiiBackupManager. Why does WiiBackupManager ask you to create a WFBS partition after you created a FAT32 one on your own from the program itself? Doing this doesn't allow the WBFS application to use the drive since it's FAT32 but has a WFBS folder on it? What the heck?

For FAT32, you must install Hermes V4 (not V5).
The best, on my opinion, is IOS222[37+38] (use manual install, and merging option when installing IOS 222).
Then, boot USBloaderGX, go to settings and set IOS222 as main IOS. exit the loader and reload it in order to make IOS222 effective.

I'll do but never used Hermes stuff before on the Wii.

Thanks for that little reference table Cyan. I'll report back soon with results.

Edit:

Where is the manual install option? Once I go through my selections it starts the network installation. I'm not connected to the internet. Also, the first option is "IOS Install". What do I select here? Slot 249? 37? 38? I'm totally confused here now. I see the next selection with merge option of 37 & 38. I don't understand the first option of the IOS Install option and which to use.

I said manual, in reference to the "recommended".
If you choose recommended, it will install cIOS222 with a single base, and 223 with 2 bases merged together.

you select to install to 222 then instead of the recommended, select yourself "37 merged 38".

First screen :
CODEcIOS installer.
Selected IOS for install
Press Left/right to select other different IOS
Press A to continue (Take the riskà.
Press B to abort.
Like every other homebrew, you need to select the IOS on which the Homebrew will depend on to get the needed functions to work correctly.
Here you select 249, it will provide access to NAND.

Like the wad manager, it asks you which IOS you want to use for the program to work. consider it as the "library" or the "firmware" needed for the homebrew to function properly.

second screen :
Code:
cIOS installer (Select Custom IOS)
install custom IOS 202 (Homebrew)
>Install Custom IOS 222 (Default)
Install Custom IOS 223
Press A to select or B to Abort.
Press A to select the installation of IOS 222

3rd screen:
Code:
cIOS Installer (Select IOS Base)
>Use IOS 38 (Recommended)
Use IOS 38 Merged with IOS 37
Use IOS 38 Merges with IOS 60
Press A to select or B to Abort
go to the second option to use base 38 merge with base 37.

Install, done.
it wasn't hard, was it ?

@Cyan:

I appreciate all your advice. However, I decided to go back to the WFBS format. That's what I had when things were working normally.

I transferred all my games back to the HDD again. I then re-installed rev17 and it installed just fine. BTW, I deleted all my config files from the SD Card as well.

I then updated the loader with r1023 from the :/apps/usbloader_gx/boot.dol folder. Again, the loader shows no games. It didn't ask me to select or format the partition this time but no games are shown and says 0GB.

What I had working was rev17 with r883(stable version) and that's the only one that's worked right BUT I didn't have the "002 error fix" option listed from the settings. This is supposed to be an option for versions dating back a lot further. Why isn't it listed with mine? Geez!

I think I'm gonna just go back and re-install r883(stable) and see what happens this time. I honestly don't know what's going on here. It's certainly frustrating because I hadn't needed to deal with this stuff in a long time. It's like my Wii has become foreign or something.

Edit: I run the loader from homebrew channel and it worked just fine. When I run it from the Wii channel it's not. What am I doing wrong for it not to work from the channel? It says r883 when loading off the SD Card(homebrew channel) so it's the right version. I can load it from the Wii channel and it's listed as r883 but doesn't work. Where do I have something messed up? Thanks!

Hey guys,

I've been using rev 900+ for a while (cant remember the exact rev), and everything was working great.

I've been having code dumps with rev 938, so I checked this thread and I've seen that there is about a 100 more revs

so I've been using r1021. One problem though, it fails checking EVERYTHING at the start including initializing USB, however it does go into the program and sees the USB. I just thing it does not see my SD cause my theme is default

I'm sure it's not the SD's fault. I grabbed another SD with only this program, and it does the same thing as well..

What gives? what has been changed in the last 100 revs?

@Cyan:

I think I've got it back to working normal again. I'm not gonna hold my breath but it seems to work now. One other thing. I did read chat about being able to go back to the games list from the loader while playing a game. What revision or method can this be done? I have r883 in use and want to know if it was implemented before or after this release. Thanks!

Edit: I found out that r927 was the first version with back to loader patch implementation from within a game. How do you do it though? What button/buttons do you use? I can't get it to work trying various buttons. There's not a thing about this from the readmiiv2 either. Thanks again!

@Madridi : Many things have been changed in the hdd detection and device initializations.
1024 is now even different (maybe you should try it).
Don't forget to delete the GXGlobal.cfg for 1024+ (all the path are different now, SD:/ -> sd:/, and USB:/ -> usbx:/ (where x = partition number))

Though, 1021 should work. It's strange that nothing is initialized.
Please try the latest 1026. If it's still not working, maybe we will ask you to help us and test few dols.

@Tonybologna
When you are playing a game, hit Home button and select "Exit to wii menu" (don't select reset). It will load the GX Forwarder UNEO instead of the Wii menu.

about the problem when loading from the forwarder : maybe my forwarder has a problem.
Could you try this one (should be the same, but using IOS35) : http://www.mediafire.com/?r11bwt1occlanmk
if still not working, the old one : http://www.mediafire.com/file/wxfpuo400nx/...er_16.06.09.rar

I don't know why, but the forwarders are all working fine on my wii.
I've tested almost all GX revisions too, all are loading and initializing the devices correctly. But I tested only WBFS and FAT32 partitions, with and without SD.

FWIW, I use the old forwarder (via priiloader) and r1026 and am having no issues at all. All the problematic games (Glee, COD:BO, etc) load up with no problem. I have 249/base 56 rev 21 as my default ios with a wbfs partition on my hard drive. Everything is working as expected...

Thanks Cyan, deleting GXGlobal did the trick. I set every option back again and as far as I can see, everything is working as it should except for one thing:
Setting a custom path for the themes does not prompt me to select any theme. Did anything theme related changed in the last 100 revs or so?

Thanks for the tip on getting back to the loader from within a game.

Here's what I've found out about the forwarder in my situation. Upon first time loading a newer version(boot.dol) I need to launch it from the homebrew channel first. Once it's launched from homebrew channel I can then go back and run it from the Wii channel. If I do the opposite(load from the Wii channel) first it doesn't work.

Why would that happen? Why would loading from a certain location first make it work from another location? Confusing!

wow amazing job i am now using r1026 with the new forwarder and must say this works perfect all games work and load great with out any issues.. so thanks for keeping GX the best loader alive and kicking.....

thanks and happy new years to all

How do you remove a particular version that's installed as a channel? I know about Any Title Deleter but don't want to remove anything that's needed. Where on the SD Card would this be located? Shouldn't it be some type of forwarder on the card? I can't seem to find it.

to remove a channel just go to wii settings/ data/ wii/ channels and click on the one you want to remove.....

What if you have two channels for the loader? Like I said, I have one installed as a separate version. I also have the newer one that updates from the forwarder from the usbloader gx folder. Will there be two separate channels listed from the Wii settings? Thanks!

well just remove the one you want.. it will show a picture of the channel... and you can choose then... or remove both and redue the one you want..

All the themes selection has been changed.

Now it's not a folder per theme. You need a file with the .them extension.
You select a main theme folder, in which you put .them files and their sub-folders.
The themes selection is not finished yet. for the moment it's in the same screen as the theme path selection, and it will list all the Themes files.

Themers are creating/converting old ones to the new format.
In the meantime, the themes are a little broken, sorry.

Ex.
config/themes/

you can update the themes yourself, but it's maybe a little long (a lot of copy/past)

You can see the default.them example here
The file contains a header (you define the theme name, author name, and the image folder name), followed by the coordinates of all the objects.

Example and instructions :
"Project-Id-Version: FinalFantasy6 theme - v1.0\n"
"Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: Cyan\n"
"POT-Creation-Date: 2010-12-27 22:39+0100\n"
"PO-Revision-Date: 2009-10-01 01:00+0200\n"
"MIME-Version: 1.0\n"
"Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8\n"
"Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit\n"
"Image-Folder: myfolder\n"
"Last-Themer: Cyan\n"
"Theme-Team: \n"

msgid "r=0 g=0 b=0 a=255 - prompt windows text color"
msgstr "r=0 g=20 b=20 a=255"

msgid "r=0 g=0 b=0 a=255 - settings text color"
msgstr ""

msgid "9 - game list browser page size"
msgstr "8"
The first line "msgid" is the original theme.
the second line "msgstr" is the one that will be used, if not empty. the "-" up to the end of the string is a comment. You don't need to write it in the second line.

About the new images, just create a sub-folder with the name of your choice (define in the header).
Put images in that folder with the same filename as the one used by the default theme. If the loader find a file with a matching filename, it will be loaded instead of the default.
the images filenames can be found here.
You can (should) add a preview.png which will be used as a theme preview when hovering the theme title in the theme list. (I don't know the needed width-height yet)

Remember that it's still a work in progress. but we would gladly use your completed theme for our test if you convert one.
