Concerning the alternate dol feature, I have a question.

When this is enabled, which of the following will happen ?

1. The loader loads the alternate dol in the FIRST load to start the game.

OR

2. The loader first load the main.dol in the USB to start game and then, when the game reload, it loads the alternate dol in the SD.

Which one ?
my understanding is that it works as option 1.
just tested with red steel, works flawlessly
r531, make sure you set the dol directory in gxglobal.cfg and place your dols in there, renamed as 6 digit game id, e.g. red steel should be REDE41.dol

If it works like that, then some games (e.g. Metroid Prime 1) will not work perfectly. Metroid Prime 1 can't create save file then.

if your talking about metroid prime corruption?

why do you need it for metroid ? if you have cios12 on up metroid should work with out the dol file. cios12 made it so that you didnt need a disk in the drive to play metroid.

hes talking about prime 1 wii, only out in japan at the moment.
apparently the game uses a different .dol to launch the game than the one that loads the menu
you can patch it so it loads straight into the game dol, avoiding the menu completely, however you must have a preexisting save file for it to save properly.
so even though you never see the menu when you play, itll load/save fine. i havnt personally done this so cant confirm, but ive read such.

Over the weekend I decided to take advantage of the new USB/FAT support ,but I have a problem with the forwarder (both versions, 14/6 and 9/6.) After turning on the wii, if I try to load USBLoaderGX with the forwarder it returns to the Wii Menu. To get around the problem i go to the HBC and load USBLoaderGX from there, instantly go back to the Wii Menu and start USBLoaderGX with the forwarder with success.

Initially I removed USBLoaderGX from the SDCard ,but couldn't get USBLoaderGX to load directly from the USB drive. So I added USBLoaderGX back onto the SDCard and loaded it from HBC. When I went to change games I discovered that the forwarder would run USBLoaderGX from the USB drive after it was properly initialized, each install had a different theme.

ATM, I have all the directories on the SD and USB configs pointed at the USB drive. However the forwarders seemingly cannot properly initialize the drive, but the drive does show activity. The drive has solid light for ON and rotating light for ACTIVITY.

I have a HITACHI 640gb (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145249) 100gb FAT32, the rest is for wbfs.

EDIT: Oh and I am using Waninkoko rev12 cIOS
I have exactly the same, updated to rev13b cIOS, still the same.
Before it just core dumped on me if I had the loader on USB. reapplyed all mods and cIOS and now it just returns to the Wii menu.
And after playing one game I have to reset to be able to run a different game.

I just heard about this USB Loader GX today, and I'm definitely intrigued. I am a little confused though. Are all of these games being uploaded from a jump drive into the program? If so, wouldn't you need a really huge jump drive to hold so many games? And does it also work with SD cards? It would be really great if there was a way to just upload the games onto the wii hard drive once and have them stored there, but that's probably not whats going on. Forgive my noobness, I'm not very informed in this area.

Yes this is made for USB Drives, or Hard Drives

except you can't save the game settings.

i am running 531 and i have USB:/alt-dols/ in my config and i have the RKME5D.dol in it and mortal kombat works fine don't forget to go to settings in each game that needs it and enable it you have to scroll down to find the command to enable it.

here is the dol i use

NTSC MORTAL KOMBAT ARMAGEDDON
NTSC REDSTEEL

It would be nice if someone like you can provide the dols for fate of atlantis & THOTD:2&3 returns

just a heads up, for some reason the country string patch wasn't working in my GX loader (i used the auto update feature last night, about 12 hours ago).

tried booting mario galaxy (PAL and NTSC on a japanese 4.0j/3.2j, using a variety of cIOSs) and couldn't for the life of me get it workiing. tried the gamma loader and the NTSC version of the game booted perfectly first time with the country string patch turned on.

developers plz take note!

works for me including jp galaxy

this is interesting. in that case i have no idea why mine isn't working. so far it's the only game that i haven't been able to fix (only had my wii for a few days though).

Can you not extract the dols yourself from the game image file?

Dont know if its just me waking up in a crabby mood but since when was posting links to copyright material allowed here? Isnt that after all what game dol files are?

I believe only cIOSes so far are the bane of this forum. I can extract it myself just thought that some kind soul might have already done it and kept the dols for sharing anyway. If ya feeling crappy just dunk your head in cold water. Does wonders if ya wasted last night...

The annoying bug appears again :

When playing around the menu for some time, a black screen results when loading game.

Frustrating.

*REMOVED ILLEGAL FILES*

What menu version and such - cIOS version etc are you running?
A bunch of us with 4.0x and rev 13a are stuck using r528 for some reason - all my dols are fine as everything works in r528 - the paths are correct... I even tried moving the dols around and even set up a drive with a fat32 partition and set the paths to that... doesn't matter where we put the dols they simply don't load on r529 and r531. I'd like to know the difference as to why it works on yours and not ours.

Not to say there is anything wrong with loading the dol from the sd card, but if you going to extract the dol anyway why not rename it to main and put it back in the iso and copy it back to the hard drive. I have done this with Mortal Kombat Armageddon and House of the dead 2. For house of the dead 2 I had to change the game ID so I have 2 games on my hard drive, house of the dead 2 is one game and house of the dead 3 is another. It takes up 2x the room for that game, but the others are fine.

Well r529 alt dol loading works fine but saving game settings does not.
r531 and r532 alt dol loading does not work regardless what folder the dols are in.

Thats fine for most games but a few of them you cannot replace the main.dol. Like MOH2 for example.
So .dol loading has better compat. Also your not messing with your ISO apart from extracting the dol file.

Sure soon enough someone will up a 150mb rar file containing all the alt dol loading games. Both for PAL and NTSC and renamed to there 6 digit game ID. IF anyone has any they would like to share with me please PM me the links.

I received a number pf PMs asking how I got Medal of Honor Heroes 2 working - here's how:

A "How To" For running Medal of Honor Heroes 2 from USB Loader GX:

Download and install USB Loader GX in apps (should use the forwarder if you want a channel)
http://usbloadergx.koureio.net/

Make certain you have cIOS38_rev13a installed.
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?m2g2xzidqvt

Manually update to r528.dol (r529 is wack*) (rename to boot.dol and put in usbloader_gx folder in apps)
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?kykvwrzyr5f

Open Medal of Honor Heroes 2 (MoH H2) iso in wiiscrubber
http://www.mediafire.com/?omnztny0hyw

Extract "game.dol" in partition one to your desktop

Rename "game.dol" to the 6 char game ID (RM2E69.dol for NTSC)

Copy the renamed dol to the root dir of your SD card

Install MoH H2 iso to your WBFS partition

Launch USB Loader GX, click on MoH H2, click settings, choose to use alternate dol, save, click back and play the game.

*Alternate dol on r529 did not work for this game. Also... r529 would not run ANY games without the 002 fix enabled

Just a correction (I hope you do not mind): Extract "game.dol" in 2nd partition to your desktop

New build .dol support works again. But I had to replace .dol files again. For some reason the ones I had did not work. I am thinking they got corrupted when GX did not boot them in r529 and I had to reboot Wii.
I did try booting these in the newer build but black screened. As soon as I replaced the .dol files again they worked fine.

guys help me out i have wiiscrubber 1.40 and the key.bin file but it always says key.bin not found im on ubuntu 9.04 buy the way running it under wine
