I just updated to 1019 as well as updating the wiitdb database and it has made a MESS of my game titles. there are many blank titles, many titles that are random amalgamations of characters, etc. how can i fix this? everything was fine on 9xx. many of my games are japanese versions, but not all of them. please let me know how to solve this ASAP.

EDIT: disabling titles from WiiTDB has solved the issue but is there a way to fix it without doing that?

I also find that when using WiiTDB to label your game list, whilst pretty much 95% correct, there are some titles I'd prefer to rename, but when the WiiTDB option is set to on you are not able to change the title name, when you switch WIITDB off you are able to manually rename each game (which take forever .. especially if you have many games on your HDD).

Ideally if we could modify our local downloaded copy of WiiTDB so that we could rename any titles we want, OR allow the WiiTDB list to overwrite the titles we have stored on our HDD.

Also .. as far as I am aware you are only allowed to manually modify a title name on the HDD if it is formatted as WBFS, is this correct ?

cheers cyan, but i set it globally to UNEO, i see then its changed to some long hex name, i select a game, the settings for that game show the same long hex, and whether i press reset or wii menu from the home button it restarts the wii.

it is a forwarder, ive tried the forwarder i had which must be the official one, then i moved from the sd card to the drive and used the forwarder that mod mii installed. still no joy.
Do you have IOS58 installed ?
The forwarded need that IOS or else it goes back to WiiMenu.

@ Sata:
you need to redownload the complete Wiitdb.
the new version of USBloaderGX now use the complete Wiitdb file instead a personalized one with only your games.

Though, why did you update to 1019 ?
Official V2 is 1037, and there's beta up to 1068.
Don't use old betas, some of them don't work at all.

I think, yes. In fact I never tried editing a game name, being wbfs or fat/ntfs/ext. I'm satisfied of wiitdb.
You can edit the wiidtb.xml manually though (but you will have to redo it after each manual Wiitdb updates).
If you think 5% of wiitdb title is wrong, then say it to Wiitdb's owner so he can correct the game's names. (except if the new name is only your own preference and not the real game name)

Prior to the latest update my game titles were almost 100% correct and AFAIK they were being populated from wiiTDB. Now if I allow it to do so, many of the game titles are blank, or just random strings of characters. I also often have problems with wiiTDB saying it can't find a cover or disc art in the DB, but if I go to the actual website, its there. I can't remember what my drive is formatted as. I might have setup the latest one as NTFS.

Hi guys

Just want to says thanks for all the work done on the USB Loader GX

I have not followed the wii homebrew scene for more than 6 months now and I have noticed that USB Loader GX 2.0 has been released.

Just wanted to ask is there a minimum requirement for the version of CIOS that's required for GX 2.0? I think I have CIOS18 (Pre cIOX). Will I need to upgrade my CIOS for GX 2.0?

Your CIOS are supported, no problem with that.
But also laster CIOS rev are also supported, and if you want to enjoy the lastest features, you will need the latest HERMES CIOS.

latest added feature = enable listing of all games at the same time from all partitions of both USB ports.

I tried it with Hermes v4, and my HDD were disconnected and put to sleep right after loading (power switched off when port is swapped).
I didn't try with Hermes v5.1 though. I don't know if it's my drives or cIOS related. My drives have the sleep mode disabled by the official seagate software, they usually don't go to sleep when the new GX feature is not used.

As far as I have understood: Only CIOS Hermes 5.1 allow the loading of a custom ehc module. This is necessary to open both usb port.

Hello

Glad to see the new version of GX being released. I have a pretty old version of GX and i'd like to upgrade in order to take advantage of the NTFS/FAT32 feature. Mostly in the event of a drive or sector failure, there are 'standardized tools' for me to use for recovery. Currently I'm using a version of GX from maybe June 2010? Also my USB drive is a 1TB using WBFS version 1 I think. It's pretty old from the original days of USB loaders. I just had a few questions since I'm a tad behind in all the updates.

1) Transferring games from existing wbfs to computer. I assume this should be relatively simple using "Wii Backup Manger for Windows".
2) ISO/CIOS/WBFS - not sure if I should transfer the files as ISO/CISO/WBFS. What's the difference between these formats? My priority being keeping the size of games small on the hard drive, like the existing WBFS partition
3) Performance/compatibility issues? Are there any such issues depending on which file format I use, or the file system? I'll probably go NTFS but is FAT32 better? Other than SSBB (which I don't play anyways) do I need NTFS?

Whether I update from 3.4U to 4.2U is a separate issue

Thanks!

Hi guys:

I had a weird issue with a WD Portable Elements 500gb hard drive. I have 249v20 installed running GX2.0. When in the menu screen, while scrolling or moving the wiimote around GX would freeze up momentarily every 5-10 seconds. I tried playing one game and didn't notice any problems in the game. I never had any problems with Portable Elements drives before, and was wondering if anyone else experienced this anomaly. If so, does this mean the drive was defective or is there some other issue?

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Pyrate :
That will be a problem with your drive only if other hard drive don't have that problem.
Did you try another one ?
You can also try another GX revisions, or another cIOS base as main IOS for the loader.

@andresayang :
Well, with V4 it works fine, I can switch ports and list both at the same time too.
But if I wait too long ... (well 10sec is too long already), the drives shut down.
So when I need to access the drive, the loader seems frozen until the drive wake up, and sometime the drive never wake up.

Dimok said he didn't have that problem, so I think it's Hermes v4 which is not compatible.
I'll have to install hermes v5 to try it again.

If you didn't experience this problem either, then I'm glad that this feature is working fine

This is cios 20 and 21 (both have the issue - rev 19 does not) either run the loader on 222 or upgrade your 249 / 250 cios to d2x versions. WD is one drive that has the stuttering issue. Use modmii to get 249 r21b base 56 d2x and all your stuttering will be gone!

Does the forwarder works when you launch the channel manually from the wiimenu ?
If it works fine, then I don't know what's wrong.

yeah, thats how i get usbloader gx running, from clicking on the forwarder channel from the main menu.

Thanks Kittymat - the thing is, I have used other WD Elements portable HDD's under this configuration without any problems and I personally use an old Passport drive without any problems. This was the first time that I experience this issue - leading me to believe that it was just a defective drive. In any case, the replace is supposed to arrive today and I will test that one and report back.

Thanks again...

UPDATE - same problem with a second WD Elements Portable HDD - I guess this is the stuttering that people have been talking about - I will replace v20 with the version mentioned.

UPDATE 2 - I installed 249 r21b base 56 d2x and the stuttering problem went away. People should be aware of this issue - really strange.....

Thanks Kittymat!!! I owe you!

Ok, that's really strange then.
Could you try to select another channel Title ID (like vote channel, etc.), and see if it's loading when exiting a game.
just to be sure it's the forwarder itself or the patching code in GX. (but that patching code is working fine for many users, you are the first one with that problem)
Did you try another GX revision ? (maybe the latest beta correct your problem)

@Pyrate :
Glad it's working now. And sorry you had to give your old one back to the store for nothing

Thanks Cyan...it wasn't much of a hassle to return...at least now I know.

I wonder if the new WD Elements portable drives have something different in them, or if its something about GX2.0 that causes the stuttering problem...

The stuttering issue happens with many drives, and not just on GX - as it also happens in games (see the big fixed it thread).

I updated to a Seagate drive and the problem went away, changed nothing but swapped back the drive (WD Passport Elements) and the problem returned.

I have always had WD drives and it all worked great till rev 20 and 21 came out. If you run GX on 222 then it is not apparent (as with all other loaders). Run it on Waninkoko rev 20/21 then it is, but as it is also evident in games it is not the loader. Run Warioware Smooth moves and it becomes virtually unplayable on Waninkoko's Cios's, Hermes all work great.
