So I've clicked the desk icon to create categories, then I assign games to various categories, however when I come back to USB Loader GX after loading a game or shutdown, all created categories are gone.

Any idea what the problem could be? I can't tell if there is a path that needs to be set up or find where categories are supposed to be stored, but something doesn't seem to be working right. I am currently using the most up to date version (according to the update menu in settings).

I believe I've resolved the problem myself. It turns out there are files on my SD card that were zero KB in size (one of which said categories). It turned out that I had almost zero space left on the SD card so the file was likely not saving appropriately. After freeing up some space everything seems to be working fine.

then it's not.
you probably have 1262.
most updated version is 1271 (not available from the menu, you can get it from my signature or official site).

glad you found your problem about free space :)
be sure to free enough space, as you'll need more to download covers, cheat codes, create memory card for gamecube games, etc.
