Hi, so I finally configured the Wii as I wanted:
    d2x v10 beta 53 . and USB Loader GX

But I'm having a problem launching backups. I insert the DVD (DVD-R at 6x) in the Wii, Start USB Loader GX 3.0, and when I select to start the DVD, I get this error:

Error: Can't mount or unknown disc format.

Its softmoded only. No chips. No extra mods. It was completely clean on 4.3 before I installed HBC and d2x following these guides:
    https://gbatemp.net/threads/modify-any-wii-4-3-below.171901/
    https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...backup-wii-gamecube-and-wiiware-games.360687/

USB Loader GX is the ONLY homebrew installed. I also installed priiloader, bootmii, and ran Wii Mod Batch (v3.0) (So, there are a few installed wads)

And d2x is installed like this:
    - cIOS base 37, cIOS slot 245
    - cIOS base 38, cIOS slot 246
    - cIOS base 53, cIOS slot 247
    - cIOS base 55, cIOS slot 248
    - cIOS base 56, cIOS slot 249
    - cIOS base 57, cIOS slot 250
    - cIOS base 58, cIOS slot 251

Have you tried launching an official Wii DVD from USB Loader GX to see if the problem persists?

You might have a Wii with one of the newer drive chips that doesn't support recordable discs.

portugeek: thanks, I'll give a try.
GreyWolf: Thanks for the info. I guess the only way would be to install a mod-chip, which doesn't make any sense, since USB loading is much easier.

I'll try to load the original game from USB Loader GX, and if it doesn't work, I'll just keep using the USB loader, which seems to be working perfect so far.

Why are you trying to load backup DVD's with a usb loader? Have you tried to use Neogamma, a loader for loading backup DVD's?

Well.. there are a few reasons:
    1. since USB Loader GX has that feature, I thought "why not?". Just because I wanted to try it.
    2. it's the last backup loader that got a release (a few months ago). the other releases look quite old: http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Loader_Releases
    3. Most guides around still point to deprecated methods, like DVDx. Some of them say it's deprecated but no one actually says "This is deprecated. The new method (as of 2014~5) is this loader "X" using this cios "Y""
    4. From point 3, I assumed every single loader is outdated and deprecated, except for "wiiflow" and "usb loader gx"
    5. I looked at NeoGamma, and it looked like it did the same as the loaders I already mentioned. From a quick look I see that it lacks ntfs support and important features, so I inmediately assumed it was deprecated or abandoned.
It would be cool to have a "dictionary" in a post, with a quick description of each app, all in a single page, to make it clear which ones are abandoned, or using old, deprecated methods, like DVDx

Neogamma is fine for loading backup discs, if you want to try backups from disc then use that. It's not out dated, it's the premier DVD backup loader for Wii. USB loading with Neogamma is just a side feature, and not really used much. You can also load games from SD card with Neogamma but need to have a WBFS partition on your SD card. I've not used usb loader gx since 2009, but if I did use it I wouldn't replace Neogamma with gx for loading backup discs, I don't think that disc loading is a strong feature for GX. I would say that CFG usb loader would probably be better than GX for loading games from backup disc.

CFG mod just got some recent updates so you can add that to your list of "up to date" usb backup loaders.

The last good version of DVDx was for the Wii system menu 3.2, so that isn't used anymore.

This is a really good idea. I think I'm gonna get on this, or something similar to it.
