Well the default for the d2x installer was 37 and I wasn't aware that it needed to be changed to my IOS version until I looked at the d2x installer walkthrough guide thing

I told you it will work with IOS58, but you are not doing it correctly.

You need to use the retail IOS 58 (not the custom IOS based on IOS58) for the loader's need.
If you install a cIOS with base58, a lot of games will only black screen! Most games require base56 to function correctly.

You need this setup:

Wii:
slot249 : d2x cIOS v10 [base56]
slot250 : d2x cIOS v10 [base57]
if you really need a base58 for some music games :
slot251 : d2x cIOS v10 [base58] <-- this cIOS is required for games needing USB access, like Wiispeak, microphones, etc.

USBLoaderGX:
version 1231 (or newer) + updated meta.xml

Global settings:
Loader settings > Loader's IOS : 58 (or 251 if you installed the base58, but you will have issues if you connect two HDD at the same time)
Loader settings > Game's IOS : 249

individual settings:
Call of duty > Game setting > Game's IOS : 250
Musical games > Game settings > Game's IOS : 251

I was getting stuck as well with USB Loader GX backing up my games to a Sandisk USB 3.0 64GB flashdrive.
As Cyan said. changing the loader cIOS from 249 to 58 solved it! Thank you for the conversation more that 2 years after! :D

That's all the point of having public help, someone can and will always find the information useful sooner or later.
I don't like helping users in Private Message only, it's always better to post a problem publicly.

Glad you could find it useful and fix your issue :)

Interesting. I recently updated my flash drive to a Sandisk 32gb and it will not install a game. Cleanrip works ok, but not USB Loader GX. Since I didn't do anything else I have to assume it doesn't like this drive. Loads fine from it though (the previous one was a 8gb toshiba flash drive). I did try setting it to 58 IOS, but it complains I do not have that IOS and sets it to 200 instead. Which is strange as I DO have IOS 58. But then I looked and I have cIOS 249 D2x V8. I will try updating it and see if that works.

Nope, didn't work. I updated to Dx2 as mentioned above:
slot249 : d2x cIOS v10 [base56]
slot250 : d2x cIOS v10 [base57]

And come to find out I was running the full channel not the forwarder which of course was a older version. I updated the SD version of USBloaderGX and ran it though homebrew (haven't removed the old channel yet) set the loader to IOS 58 and the first time I tried it, the backup got to about 1.5gb then froze. Had to shut down the wii to try again. Next time it only lasted a few seconds before freezing, the fourth time it didn't even start saying 100% when I clicked install. I deleted the partial copies between each try with wiiExplorer. Might be the wii doesn't like this drive? But XploitOcelot mentioned being able to use a Sandisk 64gb flash drive, and this 32.

The drive is Fat32 and I formatted it (full format not quick) again during all of this to be sure that wasn't the problem.

No. Maybe because your game disc is not good, or your wii laser.
I doubt that. It plays fine, and even Metriod Other M plays fine, which is notorious for not running if your laser is not in great shape.

I just reformatted the flash drive and plugged it into the wii (other times I had copied over the games from the previous drive first) and I noticed at the bottom of the USBLoader GX it says 65536gb of 28.62gb free (first time it has shown that). So I am leaning towards it not liking this drive lol.

I am also having this problem! It's now the third time i tried to install a game this time it only got as far as 16.36%,(farther than the other two times at least), then the loading itself comes to a halt, apart from the music and ability to move the wiimote. And when i try to push cancel, it makes the tune but the cancel button freezes, and all i can do at that point is move the wiimote around.
ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED!
(fyi, I am still trying to install the same game; Lego Indiana Jones 2, on all these trys)

Try ripping it with CleanRip to SD.

well I don't exactly have any available sd cards at the moment, at least none with enough room

Which cIOS revision should I use?

any IOS58 version should work.
they all have the USB2.0 driver.

edit:
Maybe I misunderstood your question.
cIOS for what ? dumping a game, or playing it?
This old thread subject you bumped was titled "stuck installing games", so I supposed you wanted to install games. if you post in random threads, at least be more specific to what you try to do.

dumping : any IOS58 version is fine, and all cIOS version should be fine too.
playing : v8 final or v10 normal (not alternative)

Also : Do not randomly follow old help/suggestion/threads/forums/video/whatever, they are outdated!

@Cyan

Okay, to put the usb loader not installing games(an issue i am currently dealing with) my usbloader wont delete games, or at least the incompletely installed ones from my wii, as i am trying to remove the failed attempts but the program just pulls up a prompt saying "(insert game) Cant be Deleted, how to fix?

as of recent my record for installation percentage is 13.25 the game im installing is dkcr and i have an incompleted installed version on usbloader gx, that does not boot up, it is a result of a failed installation

Percentage record list and other things

usb is cruzer glide 32gb

fling smash percent is 14.99

Wii sports is 45.74 percent

don't use a Flash drive.
Flash drive are not working with disc dumping feature or homebrew.

Don't use flashdrive even when you are not dumping a disc, unless you want to have headache to try to fix (because there's no fix) non working features or games.

I'm having the exact same problem and have checked all my settings which seem to be correct.
First game I installed was Mario Kart Wii: Loader froze at around 35% but the HD led kept blinking so I let it sit for 10 minutes and after it while ijt stopped blinking so I guess it finished the install. I couldn't exit Loader anymore though and had to do a hard reset.
Second game I tried was Wii Fit Plus: freeze at around 25% and HD led blinking but 20 minutes later it's still the same so I did a hard reset as well. Now I can't uninstall it.
Someone please help. Everything's up to date and I'm not having any issues at all playing games from HD. It's just the installing of games that gets stuck.

Hello.:)

@Cyan explained it in an other Thread(s) that the Install Process is still running so you can wait around 10-15 Minutes and it should be fine.

For the "Uninstall" the Game Issue:
If your USB HDD is FAT32 or NTFS formatted you can simply plug it into your PC and delete the Folder "per Hand".
Then you can do the Install again please.

But before,you can try please,to

- Change to Loader´s IOS in the Settings/Global Settings - Loader Settings - Loader´s IOS from 58 to 249.
It is a good Chance that this should work for you.

or

- you can use an older Version like r1271 or r1268 from the USBLoader GX:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/Releases/New revisions (3.0+)/

or

- you can use the Tool "Cleanrip" please. It makes an ISO from the Game Disc and can be transferred to your USB HDD with the WiiBackup Manager.

Good luck
Thank you.:)

Hello and thank you!
I'd already let it sit for almost half an hour but the HD led kept blinking, even though the game was smaller in size than the first one I'd tried so it really seemed it got stuck somehow (I couldn't hear the DVD making noises like it couldn't read a sector).

Yeah, the uninstall issue wasn't really an issue, just deleted the folder like you said.

I'm gonna set Loader GX to use base 56 in slot 249 and see if that solves anything. Thanks for the tip.
I don't have access to a DVD player at the moment so using Cleanrip is not an option.
Thanks for all the the help, I appreciate it! :grog:
