Hacking USB Loader GX Problem - Going back to Homebrew (sysCheck file included!)

I have gone through all tutorials that look to be up to date to try to properly hack my Wii. I am definitely new to all of this so please bear with me. I have included my sysCheck file so that hopefully one of the Wii Wizards can lend me a hand. I have tried formatting my flash drive to both NFTS and FAT32. I have placed my .wbfs file in a /wbfs folder at the root of the drive. I believe that I have installed all required ciOS, but this is why I have included my sysCheck file. Maybe someone can see where I have went wrong here? I have also tried using WiiFlow and I got the same results. The games show up in the library of USB Loader GX and WiiFlow, but as soon as I try to launch them I am returned to the Homebrew Menu. I have also tried resetting the settings in USB Loader GX and have tried reinstalling USB Loader GX. I am using the latest version of USB Loader GX (USBLoaderGX r1268). Please help mii!

Your console setup is all good, you properly softmodded it. if something doesn't work it's not caused by your setup.

From here, I see 2 problems :
1. Flash ! please, don't use flash drives, they are known to create problems, they are often not compatible at all. If they are, it's only partially because sooner or later the game will freeze, you'll get black screen, or you'll lose your data due to writing issues.

2. Hmm, you placed the .wbfs directly in the /wbfs/ folder?
/wbfs/TitleID.wbfs ?
that's a rare place to use. I'd recommend you use subfolders for games :
/wbfs/Game's title [TitleID]/TitleID.wbfs

this way, it's easier for you to locate a game, and it's the default layout used by all loaders and game managers.
I recommend you use WiiBackupManager if you are on windows to "install" games to a drive.



So, for you real problem now :
the console usually resets/returns to System menu when it can't find the game you launched.
it can happen if you don't have a cIOS (properly) installed, which results in the console not looking at the USB, and not finding the game.
It can also happen if your USB is not plugged into the correct USB Port (cIOS v8 can read only USB Port 0, located at the bottom, near the edge of the console)
And last, it can happen if your USB device is not compatible with the cIOS. It could be compatible with IOS58 only but not cIOS, resulting in "dropped" visibility of the USB and the console can't find the game anymore.

Mayyyybe the issue is your layout (see point #2 above) but I suspect the problem is the use of Flash drive.
Sorry, you'll have to either try another flash drive, or just stop using them and try with a real HDD.

Okay so I went and bought a hdd today, used Wii Backup Manager to load my files, and boom! It works .

Thank you for the advice! The only issue is for some reason USB Loader GX will only load the games when I select them from the list view. If I am viewing the title in the cover flow style menu and I try to load them I get the same black screen, my Wiimote powers off, and I have to unplug the console to reset it. Kind of an odd problem, but I can live with loading from the list view. Thanks again!
 
I'm glad you fixed your compatibility problem.
Though, now, it's very strange that it works only when using the list layout.

All layout mode should work fine and launch games the same way.
I really don't know what may cause this, except maybe slow hdd ?
maybe the HDD doesn't have time to list all the games (you have many? more than 100 ?) and you launch a game too soon ?

If you display the HDD free size/gamecount at the bottom of the main window, wait for the count to appear before launching a game (it's a known bug)

Use modmii, it's a Windows program which will download all needed files and will genereate a guide based on your needs & answers.

I also have the same problem. I am running the latest version of USBLoader GX. I load the game from a HDD (500GB NTFS with wbfs folder) but it goes back to HBC.

A friend of mine hacked my Wii 7 years ago, so I think some stuff might be outdated but I don't know almost anything about IOS/CIOS.
I'm trying to load Wii Play Motion and RAM Racing. Also, if I try to load those games with WiiFlow, it loads the disc that is inside the console instead.

You have an old version of the cios d2x, reinstall your cios 249 and 250 like this ==>

And properly configure Priiloader to block updates.

Then test your games again.

Thank you! Now the games work and load fine. For some reason USB Loader GX gets stuck on Initialize USB device but Wiiflow works and I can load the games from there.
