USB Loader GX not initializing flash drive(usb port shocking me?)

Hello all, for context I am using an original wii with a 2gb sd for apps and a 128gb sandisk flash drive for games. I had used it successfully for several days with a few issues but mostly working. In usb loader the disk size text would not display properly and showed 0.00 gb free of 0.00 gb despite this obviously not being the case. I made sure that both the proper file system was being used as well as MBR or whatever that is. I reformatted the drive completely and put the same backup of the files that had functioned before, to no avail. My wii console also gives me a slight shock when inserting a usb stick? its similar to a static shock or a grill igniter if youve been zapped by one of those. It does recognize when I plug in the flash drive but when USB loader launches it still does not initialize. Wondering if there is a way to manually initailize.

Be careful when you plug your USB key into the Wii not to bend the pins or damage the USB port, you have to be careful.

USB keys are known to work poorly with the Wii, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't ...

Prefer an external hard drive and everything will be fine.

:/ I mean I guess thats a fix if you have access to one. Im confused as to why it stopped working when it did before? im also not confident that switching to a hard drive would fix it, and then I would be out whatever I spent on the drive. I dont believe I damaged any of the pins and Im gentle with my electronics. Will post a system check (as soon as I figure out what that is/how to perform one)

I did want to add that the USB drive is recognized and usable by other software within homebrew, just not for USB loader GX

gotdamn. tunnel vision be hitting. dunno why i didnt just try a different loader. configurable usb loader is working flawlessly with my usb stick
