I have been searching for hours and i haven't found answer to my problem yet.

I'm using USB LOADER 1.1 and I have installed CIOS36 Rev9. I Have FW3.2E.
I tried my Maxtor 640GB ( NTFS ) and the Kingston 4GB datatraveler ( FAT32 ) but i get the same error for both of them. (ret = -6)
I've checked this article http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/USB...patibility_List and i found my usb stick in the list marked as working.

So does anybody knows the answer ?

does a "free" partition means unformatted ?
i've created a new logical partition , ntfs, and seen a "system volume information" hidden folder in WinXP.

You need to provide it a free partition. There's a guide in this forum somewhere. Look for it.

I can't find the guide you said. Can anyone tell me how to create partition ?

If you are using windows, you need to right click on My Computer, select 'Manage' and then 'Disk Managment' under the 'Storage' section. Should be self explanatory from then on.

Just format it fat32 and give it a drive letter(eg. E:).
Than format it again useing wbfs thats it.

If you got to partition it you should make it a primary partition (1st in order) .. This is what i did, and my 500GB Maxtor HD works lika a charm!

I got this fault when i switched the wii off and on again due to my wii game freezing whilst copying over to the 160gig h/d connected, all i did was format it under xp pro sp3 and then plugged back into the wii where it asked me to choose a partition and i was good to go.

You are probably just missing a file ,go through everything again step by step.

On another note not related to the posters question:

Apart from wii games what else can i use my hard drive for? will i be able to put movies/music on and access then by the wii ?>

cheers, paul

Well i dont think i missed a step...

1. Run CIOS-Installer and install Custom IOS rev 9. (Cios USB2 is in Cios rev 9 isnt it?
2. Reboot the Wii.
3. Plug in an USB-Device.
4. Load up Homebrew Channel and select USB-Loader to load.
5. Splash Screen should appear with the question to format the Device. But i got: Ret -1 Identify Error, with Sony Micro Vault 8 GB and Kingston 4GB datatraveler - The List says these would work.

Thanks.
