Hi all..
I have a wii, soft moded, a korean model with 3.2U firmware.
my wii plays isos from the disc which i burn using imgburn, and they work fine.

Now the problem is as follows......

1)I am not able to install any cIOS36 rev10 or above and also IOS38 which is required for the USB drive to get recognised.
2) when i try to install the cIOS install it says mem card loaded ok, but then reading the wad file it says error "ret=-1"

Now what to do...

I have done the following steps....

Deleted ios249 once using any file deleter, but the games wont run via the discdrive. So had to install cIOS36 rev7. (I have heard that cIOS36 rev7 prevents further wad installs?)

Also installed the cIOS fix, but still no luck...

After reading every where i came to know that error ret=-1 is regarding the faulty package or the files system names on the sd card.
But i have checked and double checked before posting. So please dont ask me to do that.

Also i read some where that usb loader chanels do not allow cios install so i removed them too..still no luck...

I have hackmii already installed with dvdx and boot mii installed as an ios.

How do i install the higher versions of cios may be rev14 (the latest).

Would i need to do a system restore and hack it again????

FYI i have HBC working fine on my system, so i think i would not need to do a factory reset.

Please help me out of this.

I have lots of game isos which are waiting to go on a usb drive and run on the wii...

Declared closed. Solution found out. Thanks to all who read the post and tried to help me....
Thank you very much

Do you currently have a cios installed? or did you delete it for good?

Also what way are you trying to install the new cios revisions?

wad install or network install?

Trying doing it both ways.

If you have an older cIOS installed already and wifi on your Wii, you should have it use IOS249 and do a NETWORK install. If you do a wad installation without the correct wad that the cIOS needs in the root of your sd card you will get that ret=-1 error.

Are you trying to do a wad installation without the IOS38 that recent cIOS installers need?

Trying doing it both ways.

i have installed the cIOS rev7. it is been shown as IOS249 via the any file deleter.
i dont have a network installation, i do it via wad files.
and i have the dol files in apps folder made by wanninkoko.
they appear in the sd card, i also have wad manager 1.4 which i use to install the wad files.

sorry to say that i dont have a network installed on my wii.

so you suggest that i keep the wad file in the root of SD card for install???? I have them in wad folder and use wad manager to install them.
i just checked and found that i have ios38 installed.

if you have the wad files will you please direct me to them dude...this is getting on my nerves.

i am giving it a try again by placin the boot.dol file in the root of the sd card and try to install the cios rev 13a or cios 14

you need this wad file to be in the root of your sd card.

IOS38-64-v3610.wad

To get it just google it.Its illegal to post it here so no ones gonna do it for you.

Then in your apps folder you need a folder for the ciosrev14 installer.
Name it whatever you want like Rev14installer.Inside that folder is where you need to place the boot.dol of rev14.

Then just run it with HBC and select wad install when it asks.

Yea you're not supposed to ACTUALLY install those IOS's...the installation has nothing to do with the IOS's that are physically on your Wii. It just uses the wad of the IOS on the root of the card to patch it with the dip module and whatnot and installs that over IOS249.

You don't put the boot.dol in the root. You run the boot.dol from the HBC like a normal app as you have been doing so it goes in a folder in the apps folder as usual. Then you put that IOS38-64-v3610.wad that you apparently have been trying to install through wad manager on the root of your card instead of in the WAD folder. That's it.

Glad you got it but saying its not mentioned anywhere...

Just looking at the most obvious place to first look, the actual README that comes with it you see:
[ HOW TO INSTALL IT ]:

WAD Installation:

- Copy "IOS38-64-v3610.wad" file to the root of a SD card.
- Insert the SD card on your Wii.
- Run the installer and select "WAD Installation".

Readme's are important. It's always a good idea to actually read them.

I meant the readme for the rev14 installer, where you would look to see which IOS wad you needed in the first place.
