upgrading mini/micro usb ports to c

I was wondering has anyone decided to upgrade all of their ports to C. A lot of the older stuff that has usb from the ps3 era going forward has USB min and micro. Has anyone considered DE soldering all the ports and installing new usb c ports.

I've seen it done for specific devices, like 3DS, I think someone even makes and sells circuit boards for that purpose. If you have particular devices in mind then googling might find you people who have done it, but idk about people who have done it for everything in general. The same techniques and pinouts are going to apply tho so if you're flexible enough to adapt to the specifics as you go along, it should be perfectly doable.

Why risk wrecking your system when you can spend a few pennies on a USB-C adapter for the relevant port?

In any case, if I'm not mistaken USB-C devices operate with fundamentally different protocols and while you might be able to use a USB charging cable after plugging in an adapter (or rewiring the port), you won't otherwise expand the capabilities.
