Since the browser is working... I think you can safely update with the ORAS cart to 7.2

Then just load the Gateway launcher with the browser, setup an emuNAND, set a CFW and the FBI installer, and backup-restore your saves with SaveDataFiler.

No. Just a web browser.

And you donnt need to update or downgrade the whole console, just the mset if you want to use the mset entry point.

In the last page I posted that I got a spare 6.1.0-11U console. I wanted it for the same thing, PKHeXing.

I didn't update. Just setup emuNAND, boot it with rxTools, update it, get FBI installer, and install SaveDataFiler. That guide will do, but if you're not sure how to proceed you can always search some people doing the good work on YouTube.
