Upgraded to DSi!

It's been long overdue, but I've finally upgraded from this:

^ definitely not mine; mine is a LOT more beat up, and doesn't have any stickers.

The buttons were dying, the lower screen had been replaced three times, and I've had to open it up to repair every other week, starting with the ribbon cable wearing out then propping the shoulder buttons to try and prevent them from dying faster...

Now, I have THIS:

A white US DSi... not a hot asian chick *sob*

Anyway, I am VERY satisfied with my DSi so far. the screens are so easier to see than the Phat it's not even funny, and the DSi Shop is pretty cool. I spent 500 of the free points on Dragon Quest Wars, and I'm saving the 500 points for when something cool comes out in the US. Not sure what exactly, but I'm hoping Phantasy Star Online Mini will be cool, and that it stays 500 points when it crosses from Japan to here.

I also ordered a Acekard 2i from modchipcentral, since my DSTT is incompatible, and I can't live without homebrew and my backups

Now if only Nintendo and Adobe would get together and create a working version of Flash... my friends cellphones can use youtube, so why can't the ds?

Anyway, I just made a HUGE upgrade and so far I'm happy! How do you guys like the DSi, especially if you made a big jump like I did?

Is your FW 1.4u if so you need a older ds to make the AK2i Work (in this case a DS Phat witch hopefully you didn't sell)

Save your ds for not only memories, you can use it to update if you screw up something and you wont get much for it anyway.

Yeah, I'm not sure if getting white was a good idea... it looks cool now, but the crosspad is already starting to turn colors from sweat... I'm not sure how much longer the entire DSi will stay white either, lol

If you must have a white DSi then at least take some steps to keep it white.

A transparent play through case similar to the one distributed by RocketFish here in the United States will help protect the exterior shell from dirt and stains. I also just saw at Fry's a screen protector set that includes not only screen protectors for the top and bottom screens but also contains protectors for the interior case playing areas. It had the Hori brand printed on it but if it was actually Hori I have never seen that combination of protectors offered before.

Interestingly, there was a warning on the package that the actual screen protectors were reusable but that the case protectors were not. Not quite sure if they meant that oncce applied they were permanent or if they were removed they would not stick again.

Asian women aren't ugly. Trust me, I'd be the first one to get a boner over Hiromi Oshima, but some of them are ugly. Hell there's a few Asian chicks in my school I'd tap, and relatively hard too.

I still don't get the point of a DSi. The DSiWare games still ain't all that great, you can get a camera on 90% of modern cellphones and most people own a digital one, and there's no good DSi-exclusive games yet. The only benefit I see is the web browser (which is infinitely better than the DS/L one), the dildo-sized stylus (it's huge compared to my DS Phat ones), and the very small selection of DSiWare games that are good.

But whatever, good for you, I'm happy. Japan sucks blah blah blah blah, just to please the Guild fanboys.

The biggest reason I got it is because my phat is so worn out it has made some games unplayable... like when im playing MarioKart online then the R button cuts out in the middle of a drift... not good

My mariokart DS win/lose ratio has taken a serious hit because of that

But those DS Phats are built like tanks. I've had mine for 4 years and it still runs like it did the first day I got it. Mind you, I did take quite a long break from playing my DS (this was before I got a flashcart, so you can understand), but I've still dropped it, thrown it, punched it, pounding it, stabbed it with my stylus, and done many other unspeakable act. I do hate the lack of it being brighter, which seems to mean more glare issues (unless you still get those on the DSL/i), but it's still by far my favorite DS model.

Lol, that explains a lot. I hardly ever put mine down, even before I got my DSTT. Replaced the touch screen three times, replaced the top LCD (Had to send it in to Nintendo for that one, then found I could have done it myself for ~$20

), AND I took apart the entire thing to replace the ribbon cable, AND, of course, propping the shoulder buttons to try and get them working again. They did for a while, but I got sick of opening it up every other day to add/move the little pieces of plastic I superglued to the shoulder buttons.

All in all, it's had a long run, and it will always have a special place in my heart
