Unless a9lh finally breaks, i find it equally stable and no need to change.
Btw, my another testing old 3ds runs b9s rosalina.

While it's not broken, neither Luma nor other homebrews (eg Godmode9) support it anymore, which means you're losing on new features and likely also stability improvements

A9LH is no longer less safe (than before). Maybe I should reword this in another way.

A9LH is dangerous. STOP USING IT!!

If you intend to keep this outdated hax, you have to stay on firmware 11.7 and below.

Someone updated his A9LH new 3DS to firmware 11.8 and essentially bricked his system.

He can't access his Luma3DS chainloader on either his SD card and CTRNAND. He's stuck with "Failed to Apply 1 Firm(s) patches" with no way to repair or update to boot9strap as-is.

His only option left is ntrboot flashcart. The shitty thing about repairing your custom firmware this way, is that this method has a rare chance of failing on you.

I noticed in this guide though it doesnt say at which point I should upgrade the firmware to 11.8 (unless I missed it). When should that be done? Before following the guide or after?
It's recommended that you update to 11.8 after you're done with everything else. If you update to 11.8 first, you won't be able to use your 3DS until you complete the Luma3DS update process.

if anyone having second thought if you want to download on freeshop or not or wants to download a different route not counting freeshop and ciangel
1. just search cia 3ds download free on any websites on google and
2.download the cia file
3. make a folder name cia games on the SD card of the 3ds(any name is fine just make a folder) and transfer the download file there
4. eject the sd card and go to the 3ds
5. go to FBI and search SD
6. go to cia games (or whatever you just named it.) and install or install and delete (to save more space) on the SD
7. when installed go back to main menu and there will be a pop up gift. (means that it works)
8. tada you can know download games again in 3ds without freeshop for now.
( a bit of warning though some games may not be working depending on the website you search so....good luck mate!)

Don't use that text color, it's really hard to read with the dark theme enabled

And also I'm sure pretty much everyone knows that it's possible to download cias from other websites :P

and that's how I live up to my user name brochacho! but in case some newbie or guest might stumble this chat.

If I want to remove all the games that were installed via freeshop to reinstall them via .cia files, do I just delete everything in the Nintendo 3DS folder on my SD card? Or is there another way it should be done?

Absolutely no point in doing this... If anything, your freeShop games are better in keeping as they were sourced from Nintendo's CDN server (aka, "clean" roms).

The only difference between your freeShop versus someone's eShop version of the same game is the validity of the ticket.

Downloading and installing an external source CIA doesn't change this.

Hi
I have a problem with updating luma 9.0 to 9.1
I used luma updater - when running the console it shows that it is 9.1.
However, when I take out the SD it is displayed that it is still 9.0.
The system was updated to 11.8 after "uploading 9.1"
new2dsxl EU version

What am I doing wrong?

same problem

Info sourced from that iso site.

1. Update Luma to 9.1 version (not sure if it's necessary but I did it anyway)
2. Download Luma Locale Switcher from TitleDB (FBI)
3. Select "Enable game patching" in Luma configuration (press select button while booting the console) and save with the start button.
4. Run the Luma locale switcher app and select "Chose Locales Directory'' and select the second option (/luma/titles/%s/locale.txt) and press A button, then select Titles and find Luigis Mansion game and select "Change Region" to USA and "Change Language" to EN, go back with the B button and press Start the button to exit.
5. Run Luigi's Mansion and enjoy!!!

These steps ended up working perfectly for me. Didn't realise I should change the Locale Directory.
