I have an o3ds XL with luma 9.0 and boot9strap, 11.7. I want to update to 11.8 but if i update can i still do everything i do in 11.7 and what should i do when i update since i heard that 11.8 breaks luma and does not let you download pirated games. What should i do?

Luma 9.1 fix the break in 11.8, just that you can't play online for too long before you are pretty much to forced to update if you want to play online if you have update for games.

As for downloading games just don't download games in sleep mode and don't do anything involving tickets like tikshop, ciaangel etc.

i just updated mine to 11.8. at first i had patch issues since im on luma 9.0 . Grab the latest luma before updating. And freeshop and CIAngel is a big NO in 11.8 so use some google on some cia and fbi to install it.That's the most safety way I guess.Downloaded games from freeshop before the 11.8 update is safe(I think) since I can play MK and Smash online.

so we cant use freeshop? (not much big of a deal since its broken and title keys have 'vanished') also is there any way to download games right onto the 3ds since the cia method takes a lot of time:wink:

yes, you can still use freeshop. Just dont use the sleepmode downloads and there are some 1st party games which you cannot download anymore.

Guys Im sittin in kinda the same spot. I have a New 3DS XL thats on 11.4.0-37U that was modded some time ago and I really dont even remember the process. It has the HomeBrew Launcher on it and in that I see things like eShop, HANS, ironhax, menuhax, safehax, etc., but if I wanted to wipe it all and start fresh on firmware 11.8 whats the best way of going about doing that? Just format the SD card and start over with the guide? Ive already done a New 2DS XL from 11.8 so thats no problem. I just kinda want to start fresh on my New 3DS XL.

also do we have to/is it safe to delete all tickets using an app like ticketremover or whatever? I wanna make sure i don't get banned when i update, although i don't think thats exactly how it works. How many people have been banned?

are you using boot9stap? btw formatting the card wont work because the cfw will stay on the 3ds

hey guys my grandchildren accidentally press the update to 11.8 .. I just apply the luma 9.1 but when I shut the 3ds down and load it up its giving me the "failed to apply 1 firm patches 3ds" but when I go to god mode and boot.bin installs, it works just fine. in in sense I always boot to godmode9 and go to boot.bin to boot it manually, cause everytime I turn my 3ds on it keeps showing the failed one even though I just replace the new luma9.1 boot.bin

the ntr cfw homebrew app is not working(the one that is used for ntr cheats)
what should i do?
Just update to the latest BootNTR Selector

Download the latest Luma and extract the boot.firm to the SD card, overwriting the existing one

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You don't need to delete old tickets, as long as you stop using freeShop or similar you're fine

Honestly man I do not know. I cant remember how I modded this thing. How can I figure that out?

Formatting your SD card is not the solution, I know that much.

If you installed CFW a really long time ago, you might still be on al9h, in which case you'll want to do the al9h-to-bs9 section of The Guide. The easiest way to check would be to look at the files in the root of your SD card.

Files in root of SD card look like this:
