Hacking Question Updating OFW with SX OS

Hi all,

I have a unmodded Switch that's currently on 4.0.1 and would like to update this to 4.1.0. I'd like to update this as legitimately as possible but don't have a game that has the 4.1.0 firmware included as all of mine are 4.0.1 or below.

My question is, if I were to use SX OS to load an untrimmed XCI game which contained the 4.1.0 update would this effectively be the same as going through the offline update process when using a retail cart or does the update part of the cart somehow not work or get blocked.

The other question is; AFAIK all 4.X.X formwares have the same number burnt fuses so my NAND backup on 4.0.1 could still be restored should I need it. Is this correct.

SX OS cannot load an xci that needs a higher firmware. So you cannot use an XCI to update. You would need a physical cart, online system update or use this guide:
