Very pleasantly surprised to find the community is still active. Long ago, this place was invaluable in helping me mod a couple Wiis. I inherited one of them from the individual I did the mod for, but I haven't used it in a very long time. The mod is untouched since ~2010-2011 when I modded it the first time. I recently decided to put together a retro collection to play on the Wii. Brought it out of the shoebox it has lived in for a long time, dumped some wbfs files on a USB stick (formatted with WiiBackupManager 0.4.0b65 because I still have it on hand and it's what I assume I used at the time), popped it in the Wii, and found that the USB Config Loader channel opens, then goes to the black Wii loading screen, and drops me back into the Wii homescreen.

Since it has been a very long time since I did this, and I've long since lost the link for the guide I used, I don't know if I'm perhaps forgetting some step in the USB stick prep or something that might be causing this. I thought the mod might be due for an update anyways, so I looked around a little and found out about SysCheck. I haven't done much research yet, mostly due to the fact that I'm concerned about running into old info that leads me astray, so I thought I'd post here before I get in too deep.

Basically, I'm interested in giving the mod a update in whatever way(s) possible, but I'd very sincerely appreciate some guidance as I definitely don't trust my memory or instincts and really don't wanna brick the thing.

Hello.:)

For your Update you can use @XFlak´s ModMii.Easy and Simple to use.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/modmii-for-windows-official-support-topic.207126/

Really necessary are these IOSes:

IOS245[37] (rev 21007, Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS246[38] (rev 21007, Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access
IOS247[53] (rev 21007, Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS248[55] (rev 21007, Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS249[56] (rev 21007, Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS250[57] (rev 21007, Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

IOS251[58] (rev 21007, Info: d2x-v7final): Trucha Bug, NAND Access, USB 2.0

You can use your sysCheck.csv File to make an Automatic generated Update with all needed Files.

or

You can download the Files/cIOSes in the Download Section of ModMii and install it with an WAD Manager like
Multi Mod Manager or WiiMod Lite.
(They are also available on ModMii´s Download Page "Apps").

You can also use the d2x cIOS Installer this requires Internet on your Wii.
You can choose with this Application the Slot/Base/Revision of the installed cIOSes.A little more in Detail and for experienced Wii Users.

Your Choice.:D
Good Luck
Thank you.:)

Use modmii to mod your wii as if it were a virgin and it will update your mods with the latest and greatest. Alternatively you can open you syscheck using ModMii and it will direct you to install just what's outdated

First off, I wanna say a big thank you for your work! This tool is head and shoulders above everything I (vaguely) remember seeing back in the day. I'm very grateful for your efforts!

On first glance, after beginning with the wizard and starting from scratch as instructed, I'm a little stumped at which step to begin since the Wii is already bannerbombed with HBC, Priiloader, etc. installed.

No harm in repeating steps
I was a little stubborn. I copied the files ModMii generated to the root of the sd card after wiping the rest. I stuck the card in the Wii, installed the WADs, and lo and behold, USB loaders actually open and I was able to launch and play Paper Mario for a chapter. You saved me lots of time! Thank you!

I haven't had a chance to go back to it yet since testing it, but I do already have Priiloader on there from the first jailbreak.

Installing wads would have uninstalled priiloader (except if you started and ended on the same firmware, but if you upgraded or downgraded then priiloader most certainly has been uninstalled)

The whole guide takes 15 minutes, please don't stop halfway through, invest a couple minutes more and trust that I wouldn't have you do something if there wasn't a good reason behind it. As always if u have questions I'm an open book.

Haha! Believe me, I trust you FAR more than I trust myself in this endeavour. I will be going step by step through the guide as soon as possible.

I did double check Priiloader by running the install via Homebrew Channel.

Had a chance to run through the full mod. Working quite well. Thanks again for all your help! Now to figure out if Homebrew Browser still exists (it crashed every time I launched it when I tried it before I completed the full mod guide), research the state of the emulator scene, and configure USB Loader (or at least make it save settings).
